So you were there in next week? You know, "mid Jan."? Just kidding. I'm sure you mean last year. I have never stayed at the Luxor in spite of some really good offers. I just hate to have to catch the tram to go next door and I'm not sure how to drive from their parking area. :D

Mediocre rooms (though nicer than the Flamingo). Kinda cool to take the "inclinator" (the sideways elevator). Decent bars throughout the casino...the hookers are more obvious at the Luxor than almost anywhere. Location is a minor issue...but being right next to Mandalay Bay is an advantage.

Skip,

They day after I left, when we were there in Nov., they started a 3-day film shoot of comedians all around Vegas. When/where will that be aired? Know anything about it?

Usually I go for my birthday this upcoming weekend with my wife. Alas, she is pregnant and I didn't want to expose her to Vegas while with child. On top of that her sister is getting married there in early march and we are supposed to go. I don't really want her to go, but it's her sister and I cannot tell her not to go. This blows. I love Vegas and hate the fact that I cannot go. :D

I stayed at Luxor 2 years ago and I didn't like the fact that is is very far (walking-wise) from the main part of the strip- bad location IMO-everytime we went out to it was a pain in the hindquarter to get anyplace.

Watching the discovery travel channel... I learned something about Vegas.....

Las Vegas Casinos and Catholics

This may come as a surprise to those of you not living in Las Vegas, but there are more Catholic churches there than casinos. Not surprisingly, some worshippers at Sunday services will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed.

Since they get chips from so many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to collect the offerings. The churches send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan Monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in.

This is done by

the....

The Chip Monks.

Didn't see it comin' did ya?!?!

(sorry couldnt help myself) Back to best hotels and Vegas stories.....discuss

Rockn,

My neighbor and his wife were out there in Nov. for the HBO comedy festival... He works as on of the contract negotiators for DISH network. He was a guest of HBO, so I would assume that it will be on HBO.

We usually go for the Superbowl every year, since my b-day is the 27th of January. We missed last year as my wife was pregnant and this year Elise is only 6 months old. We are going in March though 1st-7th and really looking forward to that. We got married at the Flamingo in Nov of 04
