theprofessor
SEC Referee Did anyone see this? I'd like to hear the referee's explanation? He looks like he moves in the direction of the runner, elevates his upper body and throws a shoulder into the South Carolina QB? Rockerbraves
Auburn had a bye week so they loan us their refs for the South Carolina game.
BS Miscreant
OK, ya'll can make light of this all you want but that is complete crap. Their is no doubt that zebra man went out of his way to get in that spot then clearly leaned into the contact. If that guy's not fired then the good ole boy network is far worse than I ever thought. Even if he can in some way justify the idea that he got caught out of position and reacted in an attempt to protect himself he should still be, at the very least, levied an enormous suspension for being a complete idiot. I agree and I wasn't making light of it. I would love to hear his explanation of his intent? Looks to be one of the guys that had a BCS vote last year
Rockerbraves
Some speculate the the ref was paid by South Carolina professor that had his car keyed by Garcia. Here's Coach Miles response: “We told him (the umpire), ‘Listen, you’ve got to use your flipper. You’ve got to use your forearm.’ But, then you have to wrap up. I want you to know that we were disappointed in his effort to be honest with you. We felt like he could knock them down a little bit. It happens so regularly in games. Sometimes the ball breaks right at him, and it’s very difficult. Certainly, everybody in this room would look to defend themselves, and I’m certain that’s what he was thinking when that ball came at him. No, we don’t look to use them as picks or blocking pieces and rubs, but it certainly happens.” Here are a few responses from a South Carolina message board: http://southcarolina.rivals.com/showmsg.as...017&style=2 Edited October 21, 2008 by Rockerbraves
detlef
I honestly thought the video was a spoof when I saw it. Watched it again just to make sure. I'm honestly speechless. I could watch that vid 10x and still not figure out what the hell dude was doing if he wasn't making a point of knocking down the QB. Absolutely crazy. Double Agent
That is one of the craziest things I've ever seen in college football. I think the ref truly forgot where he was for a minute.
Rovers
They were talking about this on sports radio in NY today. That is bizarre. He clearly made a tackle on that play! The SEC is refusing to comment on it. That is even more bizarre. They also refuse to say if that zebra is scheduled to work a game this week. The SEC got lucky.... that drive ended in a TD. If it didn't....
Rockerbraves
We've all seen the ESPN replay which in my opinion looks bad for the ref but some could say he was just trying to get out of the way, but check out this ground level video of the play. Wow! The ref a past Kentucky linebacker must of had a flash back. Click on this link and go to the 2nd video titled "LSU's 12th man from a different angle" http://www.thescore1210.com/pages/joshinnes.html And for those who watched the game that drive did end in a TD, but not exactly how the SEC would have liked it since it required a review of the TD. Rovers
That ref made a tackle without wrapping up.... period. That was no "self protection" thing... it was a freakin tackle.
GWPFFL BrianW
It's a video that will be shown in Football camps all across the country next summer. The Art of Tackling.
