SLAYER
Understand that there was a special on Press and Pete Maravich on TV today. wish I could have seen it as I worked all day. When I was a 13-15 yr old Pistol was roaming around Tiger Town. was lucky enough to see play live a few times and on TV weekly. To this day I still say that Pistol was the greatest college ball handler, passer, and shooter that I ever saw. Some of the things that he did with the ball especially in that era was unfreakingbelievable. Anybody else seen him play college ball? Chargerz
Yeah, I saw him play. To this day I STILL think he had eyes in the back of his head!!
muck
I never really heard the story about why he wasn't nearly as dominant in the pros ... What was the story's angle on that?
Footballjoe
I saw a documentry on him some years ago but don not recall the details but I do believe he had a few very good seasons. Didn't he play for the Hawks? Enough said.

Enough said. 1389563[/snapback] Played for the Hawks and was the only player they had, was ok but nothing great very few players on the Hawks could catch his passes. was traded to the NO Jazz their first year in the NBA. Don't remember his surrounding cast except for Elgin Baylor in the twilight of his carear. Remember they won their first NBA home game on Nov. 10, 1973 or 1974 on a last second Pete shot., the crowd went nuts. I was there on my BD just can't remember the year and to lazy to look it up. Sir Loins of Beef
Slayer-if you mean back at the cow palace-my dad took me to all the freshman games --then we would leave before the varsity would start. Floppy socks and hair waving with passes hitting teamates Sanders and Newton in the faces-because they never knew when the ball was coming their way--it was something to watch-- would go the playground and try the between the legs pass-never could get that one right

jackshi17
Yes I saw him play several times in college and he was amazing but I don't know about best ever. Suprisingly the best performance I ever saw in college was the final game of Sen Bill Bradley at Princeton.
