sdrewp75 Posted July 19, 2006 Share Posted July 19, 2006 Hey guys, I have somewhat of a dilemma here. My current 2-man keeper league has been using a 17 week season format the last two years. Each playoff round lasts two weeks. Last year a couple of guys (including myself in the championship) got screwed when teams like Cinci and Seattle limited the playing time of their star players. I'm of the mindset that the two teams in the championship should be given every chance to ensure that their rosters are maximized. Now my question is: Is there some merit to the 17 week format that I'm just not realizing? I'd appreciate any feedback ya'll could share. rcswildcat Posted July 19, 2006 Share Posted July 19, 2006 there is no reason to play any kind of meaningful game week 17 IMO. last year, all the guys threw in 10 bucks for high score week 17. we all sat around watching the games and it was kinda fun. the guy in second to last won. but other than that, the superbowl should be week 16. Big Country Posted July 19, 2006 Share Posted July 19, 2006 In a playoff format, I personally prefer to have it be wee k16, though if you are doing two weeks, then it comes down to team management and risk management. It is easy to se ewho has clinched playoff spots and homefield advantage, so then you can weight the risk reward of starting players from those teaam that may get limited or no time vs. a lesser player that is likely to play the whole game. Now, if it was only a one week championship game, no doubt it is better to do it in week 16 for the reasons of teams resting players, etc. Now, if it is a non-playoff league, there is no reason to play out the full 17 weeks. Every Owner puts together a starting line-up of 2QB's 2RB's 2WR's 2TE's 2K's and 2 Def's from all NFL players. Winner takes all. We also have another $100.00 allocated for a King of the Hill Challenge with Winner takes all !!!! Just a little incentive to keep everyone interested and have fun.
