sack95822
I have been reading about different draft strategies and i need some input from those of you who have more experience than i do. the strategy that i think is most interesting says to avoid the position runs and do the opposite of what the rest of your leage is doing. (the costanza method) obviously this totally depends on my draft position, if im in the top three i will use the conventional wisdom and go for Johnson, LT or Alexander In the first round there will undoubtedly be a run on running backs, when this happens should i go for a wide out? when there's a run on wide outs should i go for a QB or a RB? So depending on my my draft position my draft order would loosely resemble the following 1. RB or WR 2. WR or RB 3. QB 4. RB or WR 5. RB 6. QB then for the rest of the draft grab the best available to complete a roster. I'm curious what you guys think of this strategy. The required starting line up for my league is as follows: 2 QB 2 RB 2WR 1 TE 1 PK 1 DEF team our scoring system is as follows: RUSHING 1 point(s) for each 2-point conversion. Length of Rushing Touchdowns 1 rule defined: For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 3 bonus point(s) for scores from 1 to 10 yards. 4 bonus point(s) for scores from 11 to 20 yards. 5 bonus point(s) for scores from 21 to 30 yards. 6 bonus point(s) for scores from 31 to 40 yards. 7 bonus point(s) for scores from 41 to 100 yards. Total Rushing Yardage For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 1 bonus point(s) each 10 total yards, starting with 10 yard(s). Total Rushing Attempts No rules defined. Yards Per Rush No rules defined. Fumbles Lost 1 rule defined: For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 2 point(s) deducted for each 1 fumble(s) lost, starting with 1 fumble(s) lost ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PASSING 1 point(s) for each 2-point conversion. Length of Passing Touchdowns 1 rule defined: For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 3 bonus point(s) for scores from 1 to 10 yards. 4 bonus point(s) for scores from 11 to 20 yards. 5 bonus point(s) for scores from 21 to 30 yards. 6 bonus point(s) for scores from 31 to 40 yards. 7 bonus point(s) for scores from 41 to 100 yards. Total Passing Yardage For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 1 bonus point(s) each 25 total yards, starting with 25 yard(s). Total Passing Attempts No rules defined. Total Completions No rules defined. Passing Completion Percentage No rules defined. Yards Per Completion No rules defined. Incompletions No rules defined. Interceptions 1 rule defined: For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 2 point(s) deducted for each 1 interception(s), starting with 1 interception(s). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RECEIVING Scores 1 rule defined: For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 1 point(s) for each 2-point conversion. Length of Touchdown Receptions 1 rule defined: For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 3 bonus point(s) for scores from 1 to 10 yards. 4 bonus point(s) for scores from 11 to 20 yards. 5 bonus point(s) for scores from 21 to 30 yards. 6 bonus point(s) for scores from 31 to 40 yards. 7 bonus point(s) for scores from 41 to 100 yards. Total Receiving Yardage For position: QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks 1 bonus point(s) each 10 total yards, starting with 10 yard(s). Total Receptions No rules defined. Yards Per Reception No rules defined. I know this is a lot to read through and i appreciate your time, I would appreciate any and all input -
Hardrocker
Interesting question, and I dont mean to be short, but in the first round going against the grain with the third pick would be absolutely suicidal. The rest of your draft...ok...there is room to swim against the current, but if you have the third pick and you consider taking anyone but the remainder of LJ LT2 or SA, in whatever order... I would like to invite you to a money league I am setting up. Just my 2 cents. Good luck Hardrocker

As i said "obviously this totally depends on my draft position, if im in the top three i will use the conventional wisdom and go for Johnson, LT or Alexander" depending on who's left. I'm asking this in the case that i get a 5th or higher pick, or to be used in the second and third rounds, i guess i should have clarified that. Ideally i'd like to get top tier RB, QB and WR in the first three or four rounds. rather than follow the run on RBs in the first two rounds maybe grab a top WR or QB in the second? what do you think? KUBJPO01
I'm confused, do you know or not know your draft position? Are you top 3 or not top 3? We could help you a lot more if we knew that.

If I misunderstood I am sorry. I still do not think I would swim against the grain as long as you could get a top runningback. The question is where do you draw the line at a top runningback. Is it the 6th RB? The 9th? Maybe if I am at the back of the pack and all of the RB's I want are gone I go against the grain, with the idea that I am still getting tier one players. But, this is VERY risky and frankly I haven't seen it work very often. You have to know where you draw your lines as to talent and you also need to understand how your opponents will draft. tonorator
I don't know the draft order yet. come back when you know that ... otherwise the topic turns into drafting strategy 101 and there is plenty of stuff already out there to read on that. yo mama
If your league has 12 teams or less, a RB is mandatory with your first round pick.
