Tford
Switching from a redraft or 2-3 keepers leagues to a full scale dynasty is tough, especially if you are IDP. When my homer league went from redraft to dynasty we also went from team defense to IDP. The two changes made a full redraft impossible to avoid. That coupled with the fact that dynasty leagues allow for longer vision into the future, I would suggest a full redraft. Be prepared for alot more work as commish if your league trades alot as draft choices quickly become excellent trade fodder for bubble teams. Just my experience. Hope it helps. Edit: I'd also say add more bench spots for your teams as dynasty leagues will require room for non-starters waiting in the wings. Chief Dick
You definitely want to start with fresh teams in that your drafting strategy will be WAY different.

craiginthecapital
Agree with the above, except to say that you might want to allow a keeper (or two) the same way you would if you never changed to dynasty...depends how your previous league was setup. As for rules, our league has them available online if they'll help: www.GlobalGridiron.com. There are email links on those pages if you have any questions. Allowing any holdovers will simply give people a reason to complain in a year or two when their keepers don't pan out.
craiginthecapital
I'd make sure to start completely over. Allowing any holdovers will simply give people a reason to complain in a year or two when their keepers don't pan out. As long as the league is in agreement, I think you could go either way. As a commish, trying to avoid complaining is nearly impossible. THe question is how much more displeasure is there likely to be for people who have guys they really want to keep, have been doing so, and now can't? It cuts both ways. In my experience, it's all about consensus. Put both options up for league discussion and see what pops out.
MonkeyOne
If you're going from re-draft into dynasty, start afresh with a new draft. If you're going from keepers, as I think you are, I'd recommend keeping the current keeper limit going into the first dynasty season, so long term players can keep their long term guys, and then draft the rest on a big roster. Only if everyone wants a new draft should you.
