Skilly
Just brought home two DVD movies from the video store---Stranger than Fiction, and Casino Royale. Neither would play on my Toshiba player, which is about 4-5 years old. Took them back to the store to exchange them, and the cashier said that a lot of the Sony discs won't play on non-Sony players. Has anyone had this problem?

Has anyone had this problem? Don't buy them. DVD has a spec, and if Sony isn't meeting the spec, get your money back and don't buy any more disks from Sony. Also, stab the next Japanese person you see in the face.

Skilly
No, they weren't Blu-Ray or HD-DVDs, just the regular kind. Maybe there's something different about the DVD's that get rented out at video stores as opposed to the ones that go straight for sale?
