Derrick Ward's ankle/knee?

I realize he will be splitting with Jacobs, but due to bye weeks/injuries I need to start Ward this week. I keep reading that he is hurt and did not practice yesterday, but there are no injury updates. Will he play and be somewhat effective? Any insight appreciated.

Not a homer, but I am under the impression he is likely playing and is missing practice to rest his injuries...

im a ward owner, and to my chagrin, i think ward will be used in an ever reducing role for the rest of the season, unless jacobs blows an ACL (which is certainly posible). just as he got hot, jacobs came back and posted a big game, while ward was a little banged up. that never bodes well for a RB trying to usurp a starting role. plus, coughlin is an idiot, and he'll stick with what he said in preseason (starting jacobs) just to prove his point, no matter the results.

As a Giant fan and NY'er , what we are hearing is Ward has not practiced but will play. Couglin said yesterday that it will not be a split and that Jacobs will be the starter. I see it looking like this : Jacobs gets 20+ carries Ward gets 8-10 carries.

I'm certain Ward demonstrated enough skill and toughness to have earned more than the typical backup role, but unless Jacobs gets hurt again or keeps forgetting to keep that ball tucked in, his role will be diminished, probably a few series each game to keep Jacobs fresh. I'd temper my expectations.

For what it's worth, he was hurt last week and was limited in practice, yet he still played.
