Gun Permits where you live?

I am taking a class so that I can get my Utah license which will cover me in ~30 other states as well. However, I do believe that some states require their residents to apply for that state's permit even if that person has a Utah permit and the state recognizes it. It's strictly a resident vs non-resident thing.

Can you elaborate a little here? Are you suggesting that someone could get an out of state permit in Utah in order to bypass the red tape in their own state?

It depends on the state, of course. Theoretically, you could bypass your own home state license process if they entered a reciprocity agreement with Utah or some other widely accepted state permit if there was no requirement to hold the home state permit. This must be the case in some states, or Utah would not be flooded with out of state applications.

Unfortunately I live in MA, and I do not think MA accepts any out of state permits :D
