dabuffbills
About a year ago, I came across a page with quotes from the life and works of Kurt Vonnegut. I became interested in his writing, but never really had time for pleasure reading. I would always read his quotes online, but I finally got a chance to read some of his works. I finished reading Slaughterhouse Five a couple days ago and am almost finished with Breakfast of Champions. After that, I will move onto Sirens of Titan. Anybody else a fan of his? My dream is to become a writer someday, and already he is a huge influence for me. If I could choose any person to have a conversation with, it would have to be this man. AtomicCEO
I thought I've read almost everything of his. Big fan Slaughterhouse 5 and Breakfast were awesome. I'd also strongly recommend Mother Night and Jailbird. I'm also a short story fan, and I liked Welcome to the Monkey House.
SheikYerbuti
Cat's Cradle is a good read too. I met him once and he was extremely stand off-ish. Not that I blame him.
godtomsatan
My avatar speaks for itself. Personal fave is 'Breakfast of Champions', but all of those mentioned on this list are great books. Also consider "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" and "Timequake". His essays and short story collections are also good. Especially the essays that came later in life. AtomicCEO
My avatar speaks for itself I never picked up on the reference until right now. Excellent. Also, if you're a fan, you'll want to check out his stellar performance in Rodney Dangerfield's "Back To School".
Controller
I think I've read most if not all of his books. There was one written by "Kilgore Trout" (penname, also one of his characters) that was interesting, too. Vonnegut was unique and awesome. wiegie
I met him once and he was extremely stand off-ish. My avatar speaks for itself. So, you think Vonnegut is an @sshole too. Interesting. Edited December 26, 2008 by wiegie
skylive5
Pretty sure I have read everything he has written. Or at least everything I could find by him. Started with Sirens of Titan when it came to my HS library (1960) and my Vonnegut journey was started.
godtomsatan
So, you think Vonnegut is an @sshole too. Interesting. I also have a tattoo of it on my wrist.
dabuffbills
Just finished Breakfast of Champions. I won't have a lot of time to read until May, so I will try and read everything he has written by the end of summer. I think it's possible.
