Footballjoe
I have a 1995 Ford Escort (please, no comments) that will not start. It is not even turning over. I check the battery by cleaning the terminals and tried to jump start it. After that did not work I carried it to Auto Zone and was told the battery is good. Thinking it might be the starter I bought a relay. I hear the realy clicking but the car will still will not turn over. I am think it is the starter although I hope not because it is in on heck of a location. I will probably have to carry it to the shop. Any advice appreciated. Even if you could fix this, it will be something else next week. Those cars were not built for longevity.

tbimm
Get a long piece of rebar or something like that. Find a clear path to the starter. Have someone in the car trying to start it repeatedly. While they are cycling the key to the start position tap on the starter sharply. Don't beat on it so hard that you will break something! If the car tries to, or does start then you can walk yourself back to the local parts store and buy a starter. That is what it sounds like to me. I think I will have my mechanic look at it. I have changed a lot of starters over the years but the location of this one just don't make no sense. tbimm
IGNITION SWITCH was the problem. Cool. That shouldn't have been as painful as the starter.

TimC
$175 is still cheaper than another car. Keep driving that puppy until she dies.
