NEW VEGAS Thread!

Vegas:

Hotel:

Room:

The Venetian was very nice. Big rooms, lots of places to stretch out, 3 TV's, but put some freakin' lights in the room/bathroom! With all the lights on and the shades open, we had a hard time reading...ANYTHING! Shaving was acrobatic, as the minimal lighting made me contort to trim my sideburns and shave w/o clipping off my nose or stache.

Their wireless worked well, no issues, plus it had a printer/fax in the room. Nice touch. Speaking of touch...DO NOT EVEN TOUCH the stuff on the convenience bar or refer. They are touch sensitive, that is...you pick it up you bought it! They should put barbed wire around it as a 350mm bottle of scotch was $40!!! CC cookies were $8.

Food:

Though we had plans to do 2 elegant dinners, due to timing of shows and other reasons (me getting back to room too late due to winning) we never went to a high end restaurant, but their coffee shop was great! The ambiance was much nicer than most and the service was great. Never saw a menu that big (8+ pages) and I'm sure the 14oz steak we ate was the same one at the higher end joints for a lot less, plus they didn't charge extra for a share. Flam's Steakhouse charges $15 for a split.

The food court is right off the casino, lots of options, very good and convenient. Everything we ate there was reasonable, and very tasty. The egg salad, chik salad, and the hot dog come highly rec'd Pizza was good enuff to make a turd, nothing more.

There is no shuttle as I think I mentioned that was dedicated in another thread. It's the same one from the airport that I will never rec. The cabbie we got from the airport never asked “Street level or Hiway” as they're supposed to. Before I knew it we were on the hiway. Grrrrrrrrrrr. $27 w/o tip. Return to the airport on surface streets...$16! Unless you're going downtown NEVER TAKE THE HIWAY!!!

The staff was very friendly. 4/5 stars

Casino:

I was considered a “high roller” for many years, mostly at the Flam. Not sure why, as I bet more now than I ever did. If your a table player betting less than a $50 avg, the card is a joke now-a-days. Not sure what they want, but my credits are a joke. I also think that in the old days they considered not just the avg. bet but how long you played. Also they supposedly didn't care if you won or lost, but how much was risked. Throw those two theories out the window. I truly think they now go against both. They may treat slot players better, but F' that. I PLAY BLACKJACK!

Vegas is hurting big time. I saw 8 table pits M/T at noon. Closing tables like crazy @ 2am. That is not the Vegas I remember.

Cocktail waitresses were almost non-existent. (Sign of the times?) As long as 45 mins. tween drinks regardless of the time of day. I will say when you finally got one, it was a decent size, but that didn't compensate.

No single deck and double deck was $25. FYI

Played w/ a guy, dirty old man really(he smelled bad and had ratty clothes on), drop $12,000 (all house credits) in 20 mins! He started coming back, but I had to leave. Gotta love Vegas!

Shows:

Jersey Boys was fantastic! LOVE was even better. We had great seats for both (11 rows back center stage for JB and 5 rows back on a runway for LOVE. The person that checked us in said we should have gotten higher seats to “see it all better” for LOVE. BS! I could smell the grease paint from my seats, “high fived” the actors going off stage, and the seats had high backs so you could comfortably lean back and see the action above stage. I'd see it again in a NY minute. Both for that matter, but then they are both “My Generation”.

I might add more later. Enjoy!

I kow savage is going pretty soon and there is someone else. Who?

Anyway add your comments. We need a current Vegas thread.

Love and kisses,

Happened to me too, the cab gets on the freeway before I even get the chance to say local roads and not given the option beforehand either

And BC is going there soon too.

Be there the weekend/week before 4th of July (Dad is covering room, getting deal at Harrah's for that trip) For WCOFF< undecided but will probably just do MGM as that is where WCOFF will be located.
