Big Country
Samsung 55" with model number UN55B7000 and the Samsung 55" with model number UN55B7100 Any input on what the difference is would be appreciated.
Big Country
Possibly. Only thing I could see on the samsug site was the color of the trim based on Q and A answers. That and one has "Mega-Dynamic" for the Dynamic Contrast Ratio and the other has "Mega Contrast: 3,000,000:1 "
T_bone65
Just at a quick glance at the specs: 7000 model has: Additional Feature Touch of Color™ Yes (Amber) Dynamic Contrast Ratio Mega Dynamic 7100 model has: Additional Feature Touch of Color™ Yes (Grey) Dynamic Contrast Ratio Mega Contrast: 3,000,000:1 I have no clue as to what any of that means other then they are different. dmarc117
my guess would be the 7000 is an older model. costco usually sells the older models.
westvirginia
I didn't look closely, but I'll toss out a guess... probably the same unit sold through different outlets. And there's your answer, I'll bet. It's so a retail outlet doesn't have to compete with Costco's price.
H8tank
Any TV that costs that much should require a mental competency check at time of purchase.
Kid Cid
Yup. they are the same set, different model numbers to be sold by different types of vendors.
rocknrobn26
Contrast ratio means absolutely nothing. No standard for it and the most of the range the is not usable.
dmarc117
these prices will be cut in half by next summer.
Pope Flick
BC -I bought the base level 46" LED about a month ago and I'll just say go with the cheaper one. It's FAR MORE TV than you've ever had and the picture is unsurpassed. I do a bunch of pro work and these new monitors are simply the best on the market. I have yet to go to a bar that has a TV better than mine. Your eye will not be able to tell the difference in 3 million to one contrast ratio and 'mega-dynamic' ratio. It's like expecting to notice the difference between a 2.5 GHz machine and 3.5 GHz machine: the difference isn't physically detectable, Chit, they give you the manual on a flash drive that plugs into the TV (there's a 5 page paper insert for the basics)! ETA - and dmarc is wrong, these won't be 50% off by next summer. The plasmas they're pushing out of the market will be.
