Azazello1313
darn...post rock, at least to me, is the direct descendant of prog rock...I've found that many people that enjoy prog rock also enjoy post rock. I'm even less sure about what exactly "post rock" is than I am "prog rock", but as I understand them, I agree with you. that's why I mentioned a band like don caballero. definite evolutionary strands between some of the old prog rock bands, and bands like don cab and god is an astronaut. not true of everything you might throw the post rock label on, but true of a lot of it. Brentastic
Ok, tonight I've given some bands a taste test. Here's what I liked and didn't like - I will be giving these a more thorough listen though, just did a 'skim' tonight to get an idea on what to download etc... LIKED: King Crimson Bondage Fruit Don Caballero Samla Mammas Manna Emerson Lake Palmer Henry Cow Didn't Like: Mars Volta Porcupine Trees
Ursa Majoris
Post Rock is the "new" Prog Rock. Give these bands a try... Explosions in the Sky God Is An Astronaut MuteMath Pelican Porcupine Tree I've been listening to quite a bit of Porcupine Tree and also Ozric Tentacles lately, as well as the amazing Djam Karet. Highly recommended prog rock / "post rock"
whomper
Is the Moody Blues considered progressive rock ? In the past year I find myself liking their stuff more and more. I wont say I know a ton of their songs but The Questions and Singer in a Rock n Roll band are really great tunes.
