takoboy
Hey guys wanted to know how the majority of your leagues would treat the fumble by the the Minnesota kick return team. would that be treated as negative two points for the minnesota defense/special teams or negative two points for the speicific player. thanks for any replies
drewjh
Negative two points for the specific player. The only way a D/ST in my league can get negative points is by allowing "x" amount of points to be scored. I believe this is the most common, but I could be wrong. Big John
As discussed here the fumble at most times goes to the player.
detlef
While, as Big John pointed out, the topic was discussed at length in that other thread, this should only be a discussion for how they should be scored going forward. If the league has not been scoring it this way, then then they shouldn't score this one that way either. And further, unless you use a website that automatically differentiates fumbles and assigns them to a D/ST, this should not even be considered. Otherwise you'll create a logistical mess in which FF players have to actually witness the plays themselves and report to the commish that this or that happened. Something that, for obvious reasons is not cool.
Big Country
Unless it is an IDP league where every individual gets credit for the actions, in team situations, fumbles are not charged to the team, but to an individual. For example, QB throws an INT, and the intercepting player fumbles the ball away, and the original offense recovers. The team that started the play on defense gets credit for the INT, but does not lose points for the fumble.
