BeeR
IMO there is an easy winner: Bill Cosby's "Himself." LMFAO first time I saw and still funny today. At his peak here. What I esp love is that unlike most comics today, he's so funny without any props and without being vulgar or nasty or a lot of swearing etc etc. Just him sitting there and talking about life (largely his family). Family friendly yet still funny? Unheard of today. Hon mention to Dana Carvey's first HBO special (love his impressions and musical bits) and Robin Williams in SF (mid-80s, the "Mr Happy" one) and Eddie Murphy's "Delirious." Carlin had some great stuff, esp his observations on the language and bits like baseball vs football are classic...but I can't think of one particular "concert" that can compete w/these IMO. I don't expect many if any to agree but hon mention to Paula Poundstone's Harvard concert. She's one of the best ever at interacting w/the audience. Scorcher
I think that when Steve Martin did stand up he was one of the best ever. He, like the one's you mentioned, had the talent to be funny without being vulgar.

I saw this the first time back then on NewYear's day, still hurting from too much drinking the night before
whomper
Already mentioned but imo hands down Eddie Murphy delirous and raw. 2 of the funniest things that I have ever seen in my entire life. I was doubled over laughing at these Steve Martin is a great call too. I'm a hugh fan. During the king tut days when he was doing stand up he was very funny (I still think he is awesome today) Great call on "Himself" too. Many classic lines. "Dad is great. He gave us the chocolate cake". Also " but dad. I'm Jesus Christ"
rattsass
Already mentioned but imo hands down Eddie Murphy delirous and raw. 2 of the funniest things that I have ever seen in my entire life. I was doubled over laughing at these I thought Delirious was the one of the best comic routine ever. I still think Carlin, and Pryor were the two most brilliant stand-up comedians ever, but as a stand-alone routine Delirious is still the gold standard in my eyes. i_am_the_swammi
I think you hit the two "all-time" classics with "Himself" and "Delirious". Cosby's bit about the dentist chair/novSPAMne still brings me to hysterics everytime I hear it. Murphy's "Ice Cream Man/Shoe Throwing Mom" is phenomenal.
