BeeR
Recap, an old Whirlpoor washer just started doing 2 weird things: 1 - when you hit start, instead of filling with water then starting to spin ("agitate"), it does both right away. 2 - it repeats cycles. ie instead of washing, rinsing, and the spin dry at the end, it re-fills, re-agitates etc. Initial search online hasn't turned up this problem - still looking but thought an expert here might have ideas. Some sensor which might be busted? Thx

Skippy
This is a machine with the knob that you turn, right? If so that sounds like the place to start. I had a similar problem years back and that control that the knob is connected to was the problem.

Chief Dick
Man, washing machines are commodities. If the thing is over 10 years old, buy a new one for $350.
