SEC=UGA
Boy, I live in a screwed up city... Roughly two dozen teens, reportedly chanting the name of an Atlanta gang, invaded a MARTA train early Sunday morning, beating and robbing two Delta flight attendants. The train's other passengers, overwhelmed by the aggressive youths -- believed to range in age from 13 to 18 -- watched the attacks unfold. “There was blood everywhere, people were hollering and screaming,” a witness told Channel 2 Action News. “We were intimidated. People were terrified. People were trying to run. But there was nowhere to run.” Flight attendant Parker Stanea, 28, told officers a diminutive black male, no taller than 5′4″, emerged from the pack of teens to hit him over the left eye with a soda can. Stanea was pushed to the ground by the other youths and his wallet, stolen. His friend, Jose Souza, said he was assaulted by the same suspect, according to the MARTA police incident report. The pink-clad teen punched him in the lip, the 24-year-old Delta employee said, but before they could take anything two unidentified male passengers intervened. Meanwhile, witnesses said they heard the youths chanting "B.P.F.L," an Atlanta gang that appears to have established a presence within Zone 3 on the south side. They departed the train at the Oakland City station. Their victims told police they intend to press charges. Neither sustained serious injuries in the attack. MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said the transit authority "will not be commenting about what might have prompted the attack or whether those involved were affiliated with any organized group." The investigation continues, he said. Asked if the attack might prompt MARTA to place more officers on patrol, Harris said no decision has been made. "Our police department constantly evaluates their plans with regard to patrols and other security measures and makes changes as circumstances dictate," he said. Police are searching for a man who punched a 75-year-old woman in the face and stole her purse. The robbery occurred Saturday at the BB&T Bank on North Main Street in Jonesboro. The victim told police she pulled up to the ATM and the suspect approached her car, according to a police report released Wednesday. After punching the woman, the suspect took her purse, including her credit cards and AARP card, the report states. The woman was treated for minor injuries Atlanta Falcons player William Moore was arrested on traffic and other charges in Gwinnett County on Tuesday.Gwinnett County William Moore According to Gwinnett Sheriff's Office records, Moore, 25, of Dacula, was booked into the county jail about 2 p.m., charged with speeding, driving with a suspended license and failure to appear. Moore, the starting strong safety for the Falcons, was released from the jail on $1,040 bond about 9:30 p.m. Other details surrounding his arrest were not immediately available. Moore, a Missouri native who played college football at the University of Missouri, is in his third season with the Falcons A 16-year-old driver has been charged with fleeing after running over and killing a 9-year-old girl, according to Gwinnett County police. Police said Gracelle Sanders of Lawrenceville was killed after stepping onto Club Drive in unincorporated Duluth Tuesday night and into the path of a black 2001 Mazda Tribute. They say the driver, who was not named, kept going and stopped at a convenience store at Beaver Ruin Road and Steve Reynolds Boulevard to try to clean the front of the SUV. Police said the driver eventually called the police to file a false accident report. The Lawrenceville teenager was in a juvenile detention center Wednesday on charges of hit and run with serious injury or death, first-degree vehicular homicide, filing a false report of a crime, tampering with evidence and violation of drivers license restrictions. A magistrate denied bond Tuesday for a 39-year-old Villa Rica High School secretary who is accused of bringing at least three students to her house for sexual encounters. Kristen Hammonds allegedly invited the teens – ages 17, 18 and 19 – to her house under the pretense of meeting her children, according to CBS Atlanta. Carroll County deputies told CBS Atlanta the relationships started in February. Investigators said Hammonds admitted to having sex with one of the students. "This was a consensual sexual encounter that occurred at her house," said Capt. Shane Taylor. "However, with her being in her position as administrative assistant at the school, these being high school students, even though they are of age ... this is a sexual assault." Hammonds' bond was denied after the judge was told she allegedly contacted one of the teenagers Monday night and Tuesday morning. Investigators said more charges may be filed against her. Her lawyer, Mac Pilgrim, told CBS Atlanta that investigators have charged Hammonds with a crime that does not apply to her. "It has been improperly charged," Pilgrim told the station. "Mrs. Hammonds was a secretary. She never had a position of authority. She was not in a position to do any sort of disciplinary action. ... Her job description for the school has no disciplinary or authoritative responsibility." Under Georgia law, a person who has supervisory control over another person can be charged with sexual assault even if both people are adults. matt770
Anytime I was ever on Marta and it looked like it was about to go down, I'd just say "What up Holmes?" and high-five the young man. Worked like a charm.
