tazinib1
Brandon Marshall was handcuffed and briefly detained by police in Broward County, FL after being accused of fleeing a $142 cab fare. The incident happen at around 5AM on November 14 at the Florida International Airport. The issue was resolved, but not until after Marshall tried to get out of paying. "He didn’t know where he wanted to go," the driver said. "When I woke him up and told him he had to pay, he said he wasn’t and started arguing for me to take him home." After exiting the cab and trying to flee in another, Marshall blamed the "misunderstanding" on the cab driver's "accent." Marshall's agent, Kennard McGuire, claims his client was "completely innocent." Source: South Florida Times Nov 30 - 7:21 PM Ok...something I can finally relate too. Brentastic
When I was in my early 20s, I used to cab it home from the bars and then ditch it without paying. Probably did this a few dozen times over a couple of years, usually solo. It's not something I'm proud of but I didn't have much money in those days. There were 2 occasions I remember well. Once, I did this on xmas eve and the cabby (fat guy who couldn't chase me) got out and yelled "I need to get my son a xmas gift" - I felt bad about that one. Another time, I was with some friends who I coaxed into doing this with me (they were ditching virgins). We ran out and were hiding behind a house and all of a sudden, the cabby pops around the corner with a parental look of disapointment and we ran away again and didn't look back. Doing this as a full-fledged adult and a millionaire at that is unexplainable.

BleedingGreen
Wasted, barely coherent NFL athlete meet foreign cab driver. Any reputable cabby would've shut the meter off at 60 bucks - or been more concerned about him throwing up in the cab. $145 dollars? Ridiculous, you can get a car service for that. I once sort of ditched as well, but only because the recent-Haitian-arrival cabby took me the "scenic route" home (like $25 instead of $10). So I took him down a one way street a block over, paid what the cab ride SHOULD've been - minus a discount for my trouble - and walked off calmly. I merely considered it tough haggling. Hey, in my culture, I don't have all night to argue with him about the tab. Maybe Marshall had a guy like that too.

ponyshow69
There was this cab co. in San Diego back in the early 90's that only charged a buck per mile. We always payed and tipped well.
Savage Beatings
This is actually the most poitive story on an NFL athlete not named Tebow that I've read in a long time.
CrowAT
Hey, at least he didn't drive drunk and wrap his car around the light post... Or even worse injure/kill someone in the process of wrecking his car... Not to defend the guy but I would say that a large majority of us has done stupid things in our youth. I am not even sure how I would have acted if I had a significant wallet backing up my shenanigans.

Cab ride from the house to the bar was $10, $12 including tip. Cab ride back (different cabby) didn't turn on the meter, and demanded $20. I saw this coming, so I gave our drop off point as a little down the road so the dude didn't know where we lived. We got out, I handed him $12 and told him he's lucky to get that. I think the guy thought we would be to drunk to notice.
Ditkaless Wonders
Given Marshall's personality disorder I would guess it would be inadvisable for him to be out all night since that likely means drinking or drugging. I have to imagine that intoxication and lack of sleep can only exacerbate matters. Seems reckless of him if that is what happened.

detlef
That's not how his disorder works. Well, then he has another disorder that makes him take a taxi cab to the airport at 5am and try to escape by getting into another one. That's the disorder that is not helped by, quite possible, going out and boozing.
