Scorcher
I need to write a judge concerning a business license extension. Can anyone tell me the proper salutation, and how to address the judge on the letteri.e. Judge, The honorable, etc.?
bpwallace49
I would address it to "The Honorable . . . ." and start the letter with "Your Honor".
Caveman_Nick
I wrote to a senate committee recently. It read: November 30, 2011 The Honorable William M. Straus, House Chairman (This is how to address the judge formally, reading "The Honorable So and So, perhaps with any circuit specific where it says Chairmen") The Honorable Thomas M. McGee, Senate Chairman Joint Committee on Transportation (Name of the court goes here) State House Boston, MA 02133 Dear Mr. Chairmen, Change the info as necessary, and "Dear Mr. Chairmen" to "Dear Judge So and So" I am not sure that is 100% correct, but it was the format given to me by my state rep to make my testimony, so it should be close enough for government work (literally) Edited December 29, 2011 by Caveman_Nick
