DMD
From the Tunnel Vision today: Quote there were THREE backs this week with more catches than any running back had in 2017. Christian McCaffrey (14), Saquon Barkley (14) and Chris Thompson (13). What? Since the NFL merger, there had only been nine instances of a running back catching more than 12 passes in a game. Only once did two occur in the same year (2012). There were only three instances of 14 receptions by a back in NFL history. Now we had two yesterday? And the nine games with at least 13 catches by running back changes to 12 overnight? It takes 51 years to get the first nine and then one afternoon for the next three? indyrckstar
I was talking to my buddy yesterday about Theo Riddick leading his team in receptions with 9. Just seeing more RBs being used in the passing game more so than ever.......I think. Riddick--> 9 Tate--> 7 Galladay--> 6 Jones-->
Tripleshot
Might this trend be attributed to the sorry state of most teams' offensive line, not allowing time to throw downfield, opposed to some new offensive strategy?
seahawk3133
Notice all 3 teams lost & two of the teams sucked offensively... Sounds like a combo of brutal offensive lines, teams scheming to take away the top WR / downfield options and daring teams to put together long drives through dumpoffs
stevegrab
Last year the Browns had very little talent at WR and Duke Johnson led the team with something like 80 receptions.

I think the stat was it's the first time an undrafted RB had back-to-back games of 100+ yards from scrimmage for his first two games. BeeR
Also history, first time in history a Colt defense looked good 2 games in a row to start the season. OK probably not first time ever but sure feels like it. I'm sure we'll regress to the norm.
