rajncajn
Sarah Thomas, who is a native of Pascagoula where I work, who we all know was the first female NFL referee but now she gets to be the first female Superbowl official. Pretty cool! Pascagoula native to make history as first woman to referee Super Bowl (wlox.com)
stevegrab
She also officiated the Bucs-Saints playoff game this year, that was her 3rd playoff game in 3 years (all divisional round games). Now she's doing the Super Bowl, fantastic. I notice that many covering these kind of stories use the term "referee" to apply to all officials, I guess we all do it at times generically referring to them as "refs" instead of officials, where only one member of the crew is actually the referee, with the others being referee and the judges (back, line, side, field, down). I just noticed that each NFL official has their own page on the PFR site Sarah Thomas
