Maybe they saw enough promise in Fields to go in that direction, or it just gives them a good excuse when their season is a disaster. He has a tough stretch before the bye if he can last that long @LV, GB, @TB, SF, @PIT But he will face the Lions again on Thanksgiving and the Giants in week 17.
