49erAddict-08
I just moved my league to myfantasyleague.com and noticed the taxi squad option that the site has. It sounds interesting but how does it work? What is the difference between a taxi squad and just increasing the number of roster spots available? What is the difference between a taxi squad and just increasing the number of roster spots available? 762309[/snapback] Taxi squads are usually a Dynasty League feature in which you get a certain number of roster spots, usually reserved for rookies only, to place prospect players on. The players do not count against your roster limit or cap space if you have contracts, but they also cannot be readily inserted into your weekly lineups. Here an example of Taxi Squad rules: 3.3 Developmental Taxi Squad (DTS) 3.3.1 Limits Each franchise will be allocated a Developmental Taxi Squad (DTS) containing up to 12 players. Players on a team's DTS in a prior year, along with any rookie additions, may be placed on the DTS. A player may remain on the DTS for a maximum of 3 years. The deadline for announcing DTS players will be in accordance with rule 3.2.3 final roster declaration. Any player on an active roster after the final roster declaration is no longer eligible to be placed on any team's DTS. 3.3.2 Activation Players on the DTS are not eligible to start a game until they are moved onto the active roster. During the season players may be moved from the DTS to the active roster after week one. The Roster Player Commissioner must be notified if a DTS player is to be put onto an active roster by posting on the message board. Players that are moved from the DTS to an active roster must immediately be given a contract and are now available to be in the weekly line-up. DTS players that are accidentally submitted into a starting line-up will be removed and that team will get 0 points from that position. 3.3.3 Miscellaneous DTS players do not participate in RFA. FA’s may be placed directly onto the DTS providing they are in their rookie year and have never been on any Fusion Active Roster. Traded players may be put onto the DTS only if they were on the other teams DTS before the trade. The DTS concludes at the end of the playoffs. Czarina
In my dynasty leagues, we use the taxi squad function for a developmental squad. In our rookie drafts, we sometimes takes guys who just aren't ready to be starters yet, but who will be someday. We're allowed to house guys with up to 2 years of nfl playing experience on this squad. You may call up one guy during the season, you may not replace the now empty slot until next offseason. This way, it's not just an extension of the regular roster. We also use the IR function. In our league, you may only place a player onto the IR who is on the official NFL IR, which means that they are done for the entire season. We may not use it for players declared out for the week.
