Pancake
Just reflecting on the past FF season and had to share this. A team manager in our league drafed Duece McCallister, Kevin Jones and Ahman Green with his 1st three picks. As you might know, these three RBs missed a combined 24 games in 2005 He also drafted Reggie Wayne and Micheal Clayton as his WRs corp. The rest of his draft was decent but not good enough to make up the "hugh" point spread that he had given up due to injuries. Needless to say, he posted the lowest overall total points in the 15 year history of our FF league. He is also the team manager that has the most trophies too.... But when I'm together with my buddies, I can't help but throw out opinions and comments. We all get together to draft and throughout the year to watch football with 1 goal, enjoying the game. And that's what FF is supposed to provide. It's nice to walk with trophies and cash, but in the end if I lose I don't care. I just want to have some fun with the boys and talk some football. But as far as this thread goes... My bad draft story. 2003, I selected Marshall Faulk on some hunch he would return to form. With the no3 overall selection. My buddy behind me snags Preist and the Championship was history from there... And in that same year, I traded Marshall/SteveSmith for Joe Horn/William Green. wow. My first year. My very first draft, I had the 8th or 9th pick in a 10-team league. I took Dorsey Levens, when he was at the height of his fantasy stardom with the Pack, with my first pick. On the swing, I took Vinny Testaverde, who had just completed a very solid fantasy season. The draft was up at a guy's office (which coincidentally I ended up working at a few years after) in the Bay Area. I flew home on Sunday (draft was Saturday) and got a bunch of voicemails from guys in the league... Testaverde had gone down with a season-ending leg/foot injury in the first quarter of the first game. DOH. I ended up having to start some guy named Rich Gannon, who had a terrific fantasy season.
