It was probably the officials fault. At least they got the win, which is what good teams have to do. I'm sure they will rebound and be fine. Maybe Detroit's defense has improved. They looked pretty good and were hitting hard.

I think that every ARI game is going to be a shootout this year. I think San Francisco is heading in the right direction. Arizona still isn't good enough on the offensive line or defense to be a major contender. I think they are still a year or two away, but, they have the potential to become a dynasty.

Atlanta thumps Carolina on their field?

This was the biggest shock of the week for me. Carolina really struggles without Steve Smith on offense, but, their defense simply got run over. I was wrong about Atlanta. Solid defense and a strong running attack will keep them in every game.

Looks like Favre will get shut out at Lambeau?

The Packers are bad...... plain and simple.

Baltimore blanks TB on the road?

Tampa was a team that I was expecting to be a letdown this year, but, I must admit that Baltimore really impressed me today. They might be in the AFC North battle after-all, but, I still have my doubts.

As for Denver, San Diego will win the West this year.

Certainly not up for dispute, but I think "the Bears are good...plain and simple" probably had a bit to do with things as well.

That remains to be seen. They are easily the most talented team in that division, but, that ain't saying much. Their defense is solid, but, late last year and in the playoffs, it showed to be a bit over-rated. They did look very good today though, and I was impressed with Grossmand and the offense.

The defense led the league in pts against last year - that's a bit better than "solid." Though I'd grant their pass D ain't all that when everything is said and done.

One of the few positives for GB was they gave the Bears very good running game hell. GB's pass D got exploited pretty well, which was a combination of factors - probable improvement at the QB spot, Muhammad playing out of his gourd, and GB's pass D being not that good. And as of last year, Chicago's only hole was its pass offense; that problem appears to have been solved.

You do notice that he sounds like he's giving props but is essentially calling them a tall midget.

I'll add another one:

Stallworth, if he can stay healthy, MAY be the savior of Philly's offense this season. (before you jump on me, there are a lot of IFs in that statement.)

Well, when Stallworth was moved there, I said that I loved the move for the Eagles. The guy has a ton of talent, and Donovan McNabb is one of the best QB's in the NFL. That said, even I'm shocked with how quickly he and McNabb got in-synch. Very impressive performance, and even though it was the Texans, I was impressed with the Eagles after the 1st quarter. Nice start.

Agreed, and that coupled with a Cowboys loss has me feeling good today. Don't get me wrong.. I realize who the Cowboys were playing and who the Eagles were playing, but I'll take the results.

Sorry, they are better than 'solid', but, last year, at the end of the year, an in the playoffs, they struggled a bit. Bettis ran for over 100 yards in one half against them last year, and they got beat up in the playoffs as well. I think their defense is very good, but, is made to look better by playing in that division. Not avoiding giving them props, as I've always like the Bears style of football, but, I still don't think they are a Super Bowl contender yet, though, I didn't see any reason that they won't win that division again this year.

Detroit played extremely aggressive up front. Hasselbeck got sacked 5 times, but was 25-30 with tons of short passes. Alexander had a key run at the end, but was mostly stuffed everytime he tried to do something.

Bottom line is that Seattle had a dominant defense, and that "genius of Mike Martz" talk can cease. All 5 Seahawk possessions in the first half ended in Lion territory (2 Blk'd FG & an Alexander fumble, to go with just 2 FG). Different breaks on a couple of plays and this is a blowout at halftime.

They have a couple of great young players, but dynasty? Come on....win 8 games in a year first.

They are as much a "Super Bowl" contender than anyone else. I don't think they are overrated at all; they are what they are and that is an awesome front seven with a secondary that is good but not amazing. And like someone else said, the thing that killed the Bears was their passing offense and it looks to be in a good sync right now. That said, let's see if we can carry it into next week agains the Lions. The Lions front four is awesome.

I'd agree - most preseason stuff I've seen on the Bears are "best team in a weak division" that "could have a championship caliber defense" and "needs to develop a passing game to go with a good running attack."

Saw no reason to dispute any of that today.

Yeah, I can't see how anyone can say they aren't a "Super Bowl contender". Give me a break....

Not everyone is saying it. Bears fans are saying that they are a "Super Bowl Contender" :D

They're a solid team that is pretty much a playoff lock.

Once a team gets in the playoffs, it's all up for grabs. No reason the Bears shouldn't be considered a SB contender. Especially considering their performance today relative to consensus SB favorite Carolina.
