bushwacked
For aiding in my third consecutive year without a FF championship....with your 1 reception, 7 yard performance yesterday. Almost everyone else showed up...even if you would have pulled a McGahee and scored 8-10 points, I'd feel a lot better about myself not mentioning a few hundrerd richer. I also displayed my fantasy football excellence by dropping Nedney with the forcasted 50-60 MPH winds in Seattle with an awesome late season pick up of Ryan Longwell for one total point. Always next year

kwolf68
Yea...I was also a victim as well. I have spent the last two years spending high picks on TEs and next year Im going to downgrade that position a little bit...I may make a play for Kellen Winslow when Gates/Gonzo go off the board, but i wont be the first to jump TEs anymore. Yea, it's hard to say. I still think Gates is in the realm where he is worth a risk....last year he was amongst the top 10 WR's in most scoring formats. With Marty Ball in full effect for the first part of the season he still ended up around 15 in standard PPR scoring formats. That being said, it appears that the Chargers are developing some WRs and Rivers looks to be spreading the ball around more than Brees did as a Charger QB. Yea, I still like Gates...but my thing is I have been the first one off the board with a tight-end the last two years (Gonzo then Gates). It has hampered my ability in other areas (WR) so next year Ill be a bit less aggressive for tight-end. Gates was part of the reason I made the FInal 4...and think about this...my running backs this year were ronnie brown/morris, Lamont Jordan, Wali Lundy for a few weeks, Houston/Washington...not exactly dominant. Still, I had a nice year with duds at RB and AGates was part of that reason. It just sucks to lose by such a close low scoring margin. Furd
I lost by 3.5 points, thanks, in part, to the whopping 1.7 put up by Gates.
Ursa Majoris
I lost by 3.5 points, thanks, in part, to the whopping 1.7 put up by Gates. Yep, I lost by 1.8. All I needed was 19 more yards from Gates.
Furd
I lost by 3.5 points, thanks, in part, to the whopping 1.7 put up by Gates. It was actually 2.6. Two more f'n catchs for 10 f'n yards and I'm in the championship.
McBoog
I too am frustrated by Gates performance, but that was due more to the difficulties Rivers was having. 85 was open, a lot. Gates got a top 20 performance in our league this year for combines WR/TE and is again the #1 TE. When you look at the points he gets you at the TE position, as opposed to almost any other player at the TE position, a traditionally lower scoring position. Big TE days tend to be “worth” more since your opponent will have to make those points up somewhere else. Looking at Gates performance and the reliance that the Charger offense has on him, you can (bad timing accepted) consider him about as reliable as any FF player, lots of good games and a few bad! Because of the points he gets you at the barren TE position (in leagues that require them) he is always going to be worth a third round selection, IMO. You can still work on the WR corps in the mid rounds. A solid RB and a TE that is going to outscore your opponents TE almost every week is not a back foundation to build a FF team! ncst8wuf
Luckily, Gates didn't bump me from the playoffs. I was up by 20 before the Sun night game. The guy I was playing had Rivers, LJ and Kaeding. Somehow I won by 7.
