Coffeeman
Maybe he's a really fast learner in his chosen non-football profession...but its refreshing to think that the education played a part in his decision, not just playing time. If its true, he's smarter than most athletes already - good for him. We'll see: Top prospect McKnight picks USC over home state's LSU Feb. 7, 2007 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports NEW ORLEANS -- Joe McKnight, a running back who was one of the most highly sought prep players in the nation, said Wednesday he will attend Southern California -- after narrowing his choices to USC, LSU and Mississippi. McKnight also played wide receiver, kick returner and defensive back for John Curtis High School in suburban New Orleans, the reigning Class 2A state champion. Wednesday was the first day recruits could sign letters of intent. McKnight said at a news conference that he was lured by USC's strong public relations program, the field in which he plans to major. "It was very close. Sometimes I was saying I was going to Ole Miss, sometimes I was saying I was going to LSU, then I'd say I was going to USC. But I sat down with my mom and said the pros and cons of it and we both decided it would be the best decision to go to USC," he said. In 14 games this season, including playoffs, he had 45 carries for 709 yards and 14 touchdowns, an average of 15.7 yards per carry. He also had 24 receptions for 735 yards and 13 scores, an average of 30.6 yards per reception. On special teams, he returned 12 punts for 268 yards and three touchdowns, an average of 22.3 yards per return. He returned five kickoffs for a 34.6-yard average. McKnight also had one interception and 10 tackles on defense, although he is not expected to play on defense in college. As a junior, because of Hurricane Katrina, McKnight started the 2005 season with Class 1A state champion Evangel Christian of Shreveport and completed it with Curtis. If its true, he's smarter than most athletes already - good for him. We'll see: He does seem to be a fast learner. Let's see play at LSU and face tough D's every week or play at USC and face Pac 10 type D's. We won't even mention housing for his papa & momma. Coffeeman
haha - low blows RB, low blows. But we all know that if he'd stayed in LA at LSU, you'd be geeked and talking about why that was the smartest decision...

GOB1
It is only a matter of time, USC is going down, I heard some pretty scarey stuff,in regards to the ROJO recruitment.
Coffeeman
OK, Joe's story has changed - he obviously has much more to learn about PR. Good thing he'll be taking classes in that area. My love/hate relationship with USC football continues. Wednesday = love, Thursday = hate. But I'll still go to Homecoming every year, cuz hey, I'm a Trojan. On the bright side, our b-ball team is looking up, even with another close loss to the stinking Bruins. We'll get one more shot in the P10 tourney, hopefully. And the Galen Center is a nice place to catch a game... My allegiance is more towards the Marshall School of Business alumni, but we consider all alumni as 'family' here. Although certain family members deserve to be disowned, or at least taken out behind the woodshed and beaten down, like O.J. And Bush better figure it out and make up for all this crap somehow, cause he's on thin ice with a lot of us now. Of course, he didn't graduate either, he just 'attended'. But the football team does keep it interesting, so at least they have that going for them... Edited February 9, 2007 by Coffeeman
Sgt. Ryan
Is it just me, or is this crap with SC getting old. Seriously, how many scandals, NCAA violations can one school commit, and still nothing happen to them. Is Carroll now the Teflon Don of college football, taking over for Bobby Bowden?
