Winoman
Seems like a distinct possibility (reported in local Newark Star Ledger). I have him in 3 of 5 leagues..well 2 of 5 - just dropped him in one - had to - Brees on bye and Delhomme not likely to be playing...and 2 RBs on bye next week (Westbrok & L Jordon) - need 2 who were actually likely to play next week...and I had to pick up Griese to fill this week (vs Detroit). In another league where we have IR I'd like 1 more week (with Jacobs on IR) as I've also had to make moves to cover some week 4 byes (and having Grossman as my #2 with Rothlinsberger having an upcomming bye...forced me to pick of Huard/KC...very thin what can I say...at least week 6 with Big Ben is out he plays Cincinnati!) - can't aford to drop anyone (all my WRs are too good to drop & thin elsewhere & many upcomming week 6 byes...killer). I was looking forward to Jacobs comming back for the Atlanta game (Monday night) week 6 though.....

Chadman
This could be very big for me, if he does play. Thought he was a ways away...interesting. Here's the story: Jacobs still recovering, remains iffy for Sunday Friday, September 28, 2007 BY MIKE GARAFOLO Star-Ledger Staff RB Brandon Jacobs was back at practice yesterday and said he'll definitely be back in action by next week. As for Sunday against the Eagles, Jacobs is still unsure. "I have no clue," Jacobs said a few minutes after taking his first snaps since spraining a knee ligament in the Sept. 16 opener against the Cowboys. "I don't know what the decision is around here. I feel like I can, but I don't know what they're going to come up with." Jacobs said he participated in most of yesterday's practice and only stopped toward the end when his knee "got kind of stiff." Jacobs tried to downplay the tightness in the joint. If he wakes up with little pain or stiffness today and goes through a full workout, it will be good news for the Giants. "I did what I had to do -- show people that I can go and I'm ready to go," Jacobs said. "It's in their hands." That might be a good thing because, in his three years with the Giants, Jacobs has often been confident and braggadocious when speaking about his skills and toughness. And in this case, the Giants want to make sure he doesn't play prematurely and further injure the ligament -- or perhaps tear it. But even Jacobs understands the risk vs. reward in this situation. "If this is a go-to-the-playoffs-or-not situation, then it comes to (pleading with the trainers and doctors to allow him to play)," Jacobs said. "But it's too early in the season. I feel good, I feel like I can go, but that doesn't necessarily mean I will get the chance to go." One player who probably will get the chance to go is WR Plaxico Burress, whose visit to Robert Anderson, a noted North Carolina ankle and foot specialist, resulted in Anderson's telling the team to stay the course on the treatment Burress' sprained ankle has received. That means very little practice time, if any, but a likely green light for Burress on Sunday. Then again, maybe it's more than likely. "There's no question," Burress said. "I will play." RB Derrick Ward (ankle) was limited in practice after sitting out on Wednesday. He is likely to play on Sunday. ... Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (abdomen) missed practice for the second straight day, as did S Brian Dawkins, T William Thomas (knee) and CB Lito Sheppard (knee). If Thomas can't play, former USC lineman Winston Justice, a second-round pick last year, would make his first start and be charged with blocking DEs Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck. DE Michael Strahan on the Giants-Eagles rivalry: "You know, it's Philadelphia, and if you've ever been to Philadelphia, it's Philadelphia. And that kind of carries over to the team, and when you go down there to play, the fans definitely add something to that also. "Philly and New York is definitely a special game because we're close, because of the proximity to each other. And also because I think their fans are probably the meanest people I've ever been around, so it's nice to beat Philly." Strahan refused to elaborate on what he meant by "it's Philadelphia," but chances are it wasn't something that would be good for tourism. Winoman
Brandon Jacobs was the only player you could drop in order to pick up.....Brian Griese....? Yes unfortunatly thats the way I saw it. I have Derick Ward as well - whom I elected to keep - only because both my top RBs are on bye next week and it was before i heard that Jacobs might be ready to play soon. My other QBs are Brees (bye this week) and Delhomme (likely out) and I only have 4 recievers (none I want to get rid of and one on a bye next week as well - and I have to play 3). I was carrying 5 rbs but only 1 TE, 1K & 1D - so it was either Jacobs (out) or Ward or Carnel Williams...considering my needs for next week i felt I had to drop Jacobs (but not happy about it...)...I do still have Westbrook, L Jordan, C Williams & Ward...(I'd drop Ward and pick Jacobs up again if i could be sure he would be playing week 5 (vs the jets)... You should've dropped Brees. At this point no one else would pick him up.

Winoman
You should've dropped Brees. At this point no one else would pick him up. With injured Delhomme as my back-up - I don't think so. Brees will come around and be decent - just not top top flight production but servicble IMO. I wasn' at all happy to have to drop Jacobs...but I corrected that since last post and picked him up again - dropping Ward instead. I feel much better for both long & short term now (with next week being at issue). I see Griese as entirely serviceble this week vs the Lions. Week 5 I'm likely to play Brees (vs Carolina) vs Griese at Green Bay. Edited September 29, 2007 by Winoman
