abishagenaden
(Rotoworld) Rams coach Scott Linehan confirmed Monday that Marc Bulger will start against the Cardinals in Week 5.Impact: "He is our quarterback, so if he's not in the game, we feel like were not giving ourselves the best chance to win," Linehan said. Bulger will continue to play through two broken ribs. Linehan admits it might've been in the team's best interest to have started Gus Frerotte and given Bulger Week 4 off to heal. Someone explain Linehan's thinking to me. So you admit you should've given Bulger a break in Week 4 to recover (how much does 1 week really help when it comes to broken ribs anyway?), then you go ahead and declare that he's starting in Week 5? Looks like the Rams are desperate, and will continue to grind Bulger into the ground until they are out of contention (which incidentally, will be after they lose this Sunday to the Cards). MrTed46
That team is in serious trouble.
Delicious_bass
At 0-4(and a bad 0-4 at that) with the O line in shambles, I dont let Bulger or Jackson back on to the field until they are completely healthy if I am the Lams. Play Frerotte and Leonard and hope for no more significant injuries...

Is it really worth risking their careers for a campaign that's pretty much over at this point? A good draft, some shrwed moves in free agency, and the Rams are a legitimate contender again in 2008. Here's one for the "What have we learned so far this year" thread: Great offensive coordinators make lousy head coaches.

I think this team has to go tackle with their first round pick, reguardless of Pace's status.
STL Fan
By Jim ThomasSt. Louis Post-Dispatch Something's not right with Rams quarterback Marc Bulger. And logic suggests that a prudent course of action might be sitting him for a week or two to help his broken ribs heal. But coach Scott Linehan isn't going there because he feels that Bulger — even at less than 100 percent healthy — still gives the Rams their best chance to win. "Logic isn't always the answer for a number of reasons," Linehan said Monday. "The decision (to play Bulger) was made based on whether he was capable of doing his job. Last year, he played with a very similar injury, and played his best football. He's our quarterback." Bulger was pulled in favor of Gus Frerotte after throwing an interception in the end zone in the third quarter Sunday in Dallas. Linehan said after the game that he was just trying to get something going by inserting Frerotte. On Monday, Linehan reiterated that Bulger would start next Sunday against Arizona. "We have to pick up the pieces," Linehan said. "He's won a lot of games for us. He played extremely well for us last year, and we haven't got him off and running yet this year. I take responsibility for that." That doesn't sound to me like he "regrets" anything at all. In fact as the story goes on he blames Bulger's performance on protection (which is at least partly true, probably.) No offense to Rotoworld, but I don't see Linehan coming to his senses at all. He has been defiant if anything in his post-game interviews, and I wonder where they got that "he admits he should've started Frerotte." He hasn't said it here in St. Louis! Bronco Billy
Some really interesting devlopments, as Linehan really showed some promise last year, both from a real world prospect and from a fantasy perspective. It's amazing to watch such an abrupt crash on both perspectives. Rams' players have really lost a hugh amount of FF value right now, as SJax, Bulger, & Holt were all considered top 5 FF values at their respective positions. People are screaming for Linehan's head and calling for the player personnel people to resign (and when you look at our draft history, who can blame them?) Pre-season, many here thought this was at worst a 9-7 playoff team in a weak division. Now, you look at the schedule and ask "Who can we beat?" Maybe SF, since we almost beat them by accident and they have proven they suck, too, but even that's a reach considering that the remaining game with them is in SF. And if you're a handicapper, my personal opinion is that Vegas is way wrong on the line for this week's game. If you can still get Arizona at -3, my opinion is grab it. myhousekey
Not to underrate Pace. The guys a beast but the offense seemed to do ok without him last year when he missed 8 games. But you add in the rest of the O-line injuries to losing Pace and all that shuffling around on the line and its hard to succeed.
