Vernon Davis

I know that Vernon has been hurt, but he just doesn't seem to get the targets with Troy behind center. Seems like Alex Smith gave Vernon was more targets when he was a true elite TE1.

2010 Season

Week ( =# Targets)

Week 6 = 7

Week 7 = 8

Week 8 = 1

Week 9 = bye

Week 10 = 6

Week 11 = 3

Compare this to 2009 Season targets:

Week (=# Targets)

Week 1 = 7

Week 2 = 6

Week 3 = 10

Week 4 = 4

Week 5 = 12

Week 6 = 11

Week 7 = 5

Week 8 = 11

Week 9 = 5

Week 10 = 12

Week 11 = 9

Week 12 = 9

Week 13 = 7

Week 14 = 8

Week 15 = 3

Week 16 = 10

Think Vernon now is more like a low TE1 for the remainder of the year. Yes, I know injuries may have slowed him down, but I also think it is his QB.

I was 7~2 and have had my whole team except Roddy White fold on me. On a four game skid and it doesn't look promising (main league).

Vernon Bud has A LOT to do with it.

My team looked so promising three weeks ago at 9-0...now im 9-3 and my team is in shambles:

Frank Gore ~ out for year (hip)

Vincent Jackson ~ calf + lack of effort

Percy Harvin ~ who knows..migraine, hip, seizures, old-man Favre fever......

Brandon Marshall ~ hamstring + gangsterness

Reggie Wayne ~ knee

Vernon Davis ~ troy smith + ankle

even after all this i still have this healthy lineup:

philip rivers (6 points!!?!! Yellow Submarine!?!)

chris johnson (2 points!?!??!? 2 freakin points!?!!?!)

arian foster (yay arian)

mike goodson

nate burleson

nate washington

jacob tamme

it looks so much worse now....shudders

Got pretty good production out of Davis during the Alex Smith weeks, then picked up Tamme and traded Davis to a SF homer. I never trusted that SF offense. Got Thomas Jones for Davis to improve my RB situation (Shonn Greene and Ryan Mathews, ugh) No regrets so far, hoping Tamme keeps it up and stays healthy.

My first four picks in my main PPR league:

Randy Moss

Roddy White

Pierre Thomas

Steve Smith (CAR)

Need I say more?

I was doing a masterful job at managing this team, but just ran out of guys that can produce on the waiver wire. My success was killing me from getting the better free agents. Went from third to seventh (12-team league) in two weeks worth of double headers.

I'm not buying it... yet. Davis has been dinged, and missing practice time with a new qb will obviously extend the time to build some repetoire with each other. So I kind of expected the number of targets and touches to to take a hit. Factor in a run-first offense to build confidence and get Troy up to speed, and that's one more reason for the slow development.

I liked what I saw last night by way of targets... results sucked, but it was a big step in the right direction. One reception was called back by a penalty, Troy overthrew a wide-open Davis in the end zone, and had a few other Davis targets over the middle that went incomplete. Vernon could easily walked out of ther with 5 receptions for 70 yards and a TD. With Gore out, Westbrook looked great against one of the most porous run-defenses I've ever seen. That won't be the case in coming weeks, and SF will be forced to rely on the passing game more.

I traded for Keller as a safety net, but as long as he's healthy, I'm riding the Davis bus in the playoffs.
