dougsul
Drafted him and he provided pretty good numbers in some games, but I always feel iffy starting him knowning that he splits time with Green Ellis. Ellis got more carrys last week and the goal line carrys as well. I always hear great things about him, but feel he is more of a r3 based on the work load. irish
Just sharing your thoughts or is this a cleverly disguised advice question?
dougsul
No advise needed. I just think on a fantasy football basis (work load) he is over rated. I always see him ranked each week between 7 and 14 and just thinks that too high.
darin3
Just sharing your thoughts or is this a cleverly disguised advice question? Honestly, this forum doesn't get THAT much traffic. There's painfully-obvious "WDIS" questions, and there are questions that appear to be tied to WDIS but allow for general discussion on a player. This is one such question. I think the board patrolling is a little out of hand here. Let people talk about what they want to talk about. If it's clear-cut, team-based advice-seeking, that belongs in the other forum.
stevegrab
BJGE seems to start every Bengals game I have seen and get at least half of the carries. They're probably just trying to keep Bernarnd fresh so he lasts the whole season and doesn't hit the rookie wall. Wow, just checked some stats FF ranking in my league Gino-14(114 pts), BJGE-31(78 pts) rushing Gino-119 for 521(4.4avg) 4TD, BJGE-176 for 614(3.5avg) 4TD receiving Gino- 43 on 52 targets 354 yds (8.2avg) 3TD, BJGE-3 on 5 targets, 12 yards (4.0avg) 0TD I would have thught they were closer, we can see that Gino gets less carries but many more touches overall. Didn't realize that BJGE is virtually nonexistent in the passing game.
darin3
Bernard has a crapload of talent. BJGE is a sloth. But what the Bengals are doing right now is WORKING. They don't give a rat's behind about fantasy output. They're gonna do what wins ballgames. He's the perfect flex in PPR formats. He's boom or bust, but against the right opponent, he could boom big time. I'm personally sitting him in a non-PPR format this week. The matchup isn't great and the fact that BJGE's looks have been increasing makes me even more sketchy.
dougsul
I just have a hard time starting a player that does not even start on his own team. I know he has big upside, but I pull my hair out when he only had two carry’s with 2 minutes left in the first half last week.

I think we're far enough along in the RBBC game to where you don't necessarily have to look at the fact that the guy is declared a "starter" to start him or not. Is Vereen a "starter"? Decker? Woodhead? Fred Jackson? Gio is the #13 RB in PPR formats. That's a strong RB2 in most leagues.

But then it's a true WDIS question that doesn't necessarily belong here. Posturing his question the way he did allows for more discussion and lets him make the decision himself....
