Shaft
He has 20 TD returns, the best of all time. He was a game changer. Are you against it because he is a specialist?
Mile High Magic
I think the fact that hes only had 2 return TDs since he left Chicago 4 years ago rules him out as a HoF specialist. If he had achieved abit more as an offensive player I'd say maybe, but the man has been irrelevant for afew seasons now.

In 2014, after Chicago, he did lead league in Kick Off return yardage.
Mile High Magic
In 2014, after Chicago, he did lead league in Kick Off return yardage. But is he HoF worthy is the question. I think he was great for awhile but he fizzled out and bounced from team to team and in my opinion I just don't think he accomplished enough over the last few years to justify induction. Just my $0.02 though.

Just my $0.02 though. I think they're valid points. I also think the lack of playoff success will hurt his chances, BUT I think 9 years of dominance as arguably the best kick returner in the history of the game is noteworthy.
kdko
I think the fact that he's the greatest of all time at a particular position should get him the nod eventually.. He was electric today.

He was the greatest WR of all time? Sorry but I don't see the Hall voting in Kick/Punt Returners. "Specialists" in general like Returners, Kickers, and Long Snappers just don't carry much value in the voters eyes. IMO even if he makes it to the finalist voting he will never get in, you will always have 5 other finalists that are more deserving then Hester. Who knows what his numbers would have been if the rules hadn't been changed either. I know specialists don't carry much weight, which is why I don't think he'd been deserving of a first ballot (nor do I think he'll get in), but I like the idea of voting in someone who was the very best at a speciality and changed the game. Came here to say 'no'. You changed my mind right there. Absolutely he belongs.

Not to hijack this thread, because I do feel that Hester should be a HOFer eventually as the best Punt/Kickoff Returner of all time and leads both categories in all-time TDs.... but THANK YOU for mentioning this about Bettis. Yes he had a boatload of yards, but he wasn't a HOFer to me.

So who out of that sea of names do you think Hester should be included over other then Bettis? I'm really intrigued in who you think Hester is more deserving than.

I don't think he'll ever get in (even though I think he should).
