  1. Thank you kindly gents. This answer closes the discussion as far as I am concerned.
  2. Trying to get my ducks in a row for next season. I commish a private league in the freebie Yahoo leagues. We are happy with the software in-season. But we have a few needs during the draft that Yahoo does not support out of the box. Keepers with round specified Stoppage of the timer/clock by the commish Manual change of draft order (to accomodate trading picks) MFL will support these needs. And I seem to recall that MFL allows a trial of their software for a few weeks. If true, we could sign up for a league, hold our draft and then back out. But I hate to do that, even though I am in two other leagues that use MFL. So can anyone recommend a free mock draft or other website that will accomodate those needs? Many thanks
  3. I concur. Time will tell, but his Boston's body language sure seemed genuine to me. And there was no grounds (at least on the footage shown) for his arrest for DUI . . . for failure to comply with an officer perhaps . . . but DUI? no way.
  4. Video of the arrest . . . http://tbo.com/video/xml/MGBMLUB3R5F.html One vote for bogus arrest
  5. MFL is great. But I will also throw in a plug for the free version of Yahoo. It is polished and allows you to give everything back as prize money. We have used it for years for a friendly keeper league similar to the one you are trying to find a home for. As long as your scoring is fairly standard and you can handle a little setup for the online draft, it works well, looks nice, has great reports and player info, etc. Yahoo does not support keepers out of the box. So to be safe, every team *must* place the keepers from all the other teams in their exclude list. Assuming that is done properly you should be good to go. Either draft the keepers in the first # of rounds or make sure each owner drafts them in the round they are being kept in. One additional comment. If live scoring on Sunday is important to members in your league, the MFL is probably a better choice for you. The Yahoo league is free, the live game day scoring is not. By the time every member in the league pays for that, you have probably paid for MFL which includes its own live scorer. And the "Pro" version of Yahoo, while it does include the live scorer, is much more expensive than MFL and not as flexible.
  6. While it may not suit your league because of other short comings, the free Yahoo league that I am in works the way you want. I am not certain if that is the only option or not - just that in our league you stay at the top of the waiver wire priority list until you make a transaction.
  7. Masquerades as Julius Jones stud running back. But he really is one of the Jackson Five. No, that is a definite oops on my part. Julius Jones is what I meant.
  8. Me too . . . Stephen Jackson Willis McGahee Julius Jackson Oh wait . . . they're not out, they're just duds!
  9. Yep. I am opposed to tanking for any reason. But snagging best available talent - particularly to keep it from playing against you? Abso-bi-lutely!
  10. I didn't say the whistle wouldn't mean the play was dead. I said that it be reviewed. There are some plays that can't be reviewed simply because "the whistle blew". That is what I'm saying should change. Every play should be reviewable.
  11. I understand what you're saying. But it is a fundamental shift. If true, the refs are no longer calling what they "see". And I think that is not the best answer. It would make much more sense to me to lose the "whistled dead" therefore unreviewable" rule. Every play should be reviewable and the refs should call what they see.
  12. They can't call that and not call at least 10 or 12 more each game that are even worse. Horrible call.
  13. The top of his foot clearly hit the ground. Is that ok during a tackle? I know the foot and the hand are allowed to touch. But I'm thinking it is the bottom of the foot that is allowed? The commentators made a comment that is bothersome. To paraphrase they said the refs now know to not blow a play dead, but to let it continue if there is any doubt and then let the replay determine the truth. The problem is that if the ref's initial reaction is "he's down" and he doesn't blow the whistle. Then it will take irrefutable proof to end up with his initial reaction instead of irrefutable proof to overturn his initial reaction. If the commentators are correct, there is something not quite right here.
  14. Seeing as how both are mere opinions, it's hard to say that one or the other is "wrong". Just remember that resting your starters does not guarantee you go undefeated in the playoffs. There are many teams in the past that sat their starters, then couldn't "turn it back on again" and lost in the playoffs as a result. I think this edition of the Colts will NOT have that problem - they seem to have that certain focus of a champion. But it's one of those things that you just can't tell about until it is too late. 99.9% of the time, I would agree completely with what you're saying. Play the starters enough to make keep the engine running full bore. There is no absolute way of determining that, but hopefully a coach has a good feel for his team by this time. But I think there are rare occasions where you must not be afraid to meet destiny head on and see if you are meant for greatness. I think this is one of those occasions.
