Sgt. Ryan
The Argument for John Abraham John Abraham is coming off a solid season, and though he played 16 games for the first time in a number of seasons, his stats were down on average per game from the season before. Last season Abraham had 44 tackles, 14 assists, 10.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in 16 games. In the 04 season in only 10 games, Abraham had 35 tackles, 14 assists and 9.5 sacks. Abraham is changing teams this offseason and has competition to the QB in Atlanta which he didnt have in 05 in New York. But Abraham had his best seasons in NY, when DE Shaun Ellis was also productive eliminating constant double teams on Abraham The Defense believes Abraham will go through a transition on the field, but overall should have a better season than last year if he plays all 16 games. The Evidence Atlanta 2006 schedule - @CAR TB @NO ARZ BYE NYG PIT @CIN @DET CLE @BAL NO @WAS @TB DAL CAR @PHI Closing Statements Projections for Abraham 45 tackles, 16 assists, 12 sacks. The Verdict Your vote decides. Rating those projections, will Abraham do Better or Worse? Edited July 3, 2006 by Sgt. Ryan
Doc Holliday
Abraham is changing teams this offseason and has competition to the QB in Atlanta which he didnt have in 05 in New York. But Abraham had his best seasons in NY, when DE Shaun Ellis was also productive eliminating constant double teams on Abraham I think he does better for the reasons you stated here
broncosn05
I think this is going to be Abraham's best season of his career which means better than 53 tackles and 13 sacks because I think the Atlanta defense is much better then any other defense he's been a part of with Kerney, who I think will also have a great season on the other side. gilthorp
The success of the DE's on this team rely on Rod Coleman and how long he can stay on the field this year. He played hurt last year and wasn't as effective when he was healthy in 04. I say he's worse, but not by a ton.
TecmoBeast
the tackles should take a dip, didn't he play a little LB with the Jets?
Rovers
I say worse. The Jets led the NFL in rushing attempts against last year, and Abraham isn't good against the run when you go straight at him. I could see him being in a rotation by week 10, and playing passing downs, a bit like Freeney. 12 sacks sounds right, but fewer tackles. keggerz
Coleman and Kerney are the big beneficiaries of Abraham(will see the doubles etc) so I see the numbers just a bit worse but his impact will be greater then the stats show
Sgt. Ryan
Final Verdict Better than 45 tackles, 16 assists, 12 sacks.
