Raider.Nation
Hey guys, I watched the last 2 games just like everyone else, and can see the multitude of problems that are coming our way! So don't use this thread to point out more please. The 1 bright spot that I have notice has been STANFORD ROUTT. From what I've seen in the past 2 games, is that he should be starting on the otherside of Fabian Washington. The defensive secondary the coaches have put together looks like they can really turn into something special over the next couple seasons. CB Fabian Washington, Stanford Routt S's Michael Huff, Stewart Schweigert
Chavez
The Judge and the Assassin are rolling in their graves, and the weird thing is they aren't even dead yet!
Return Of S&B
The secondary has definitely looked better than they did all last year...probably relates to the new secondary coach they hired who emphasizes more zone coverages...that probably gives the young guys more confidence to make plays because they arent on islands like they normarly were when they played man to man. In short, I see improvement in the secondary overall so far. Now if they would shift Kelly to DE and put a real run-stopping DT next to Sap at NT the run defense wouldnt look so bad. As much as I like seeing Brayton at DE again, I dont think he should be starting. They should start Kelly at DE (opposite side of Burgess) and either place Sands, Hawthorne, or Moore at DT (NT) next to Sapp because they are more traditional run-stoppers. CaptainHook
Is it just me, or does Sapp look more out of shape than usual? There secondary has a lot of potential. Not sure Schweigert is the answer at safety though.
TecmoBeast
Stanford Ruott looks like he should be with the first team. He was close on 2 INTs. The out pattern wasn't late either, he just closes fast. Huff didn't impress at all. He totally muffed a tackle for negative yards against Chester Taylor's spin move. The Raiders line him up close to the line several times. He gets knocked down easy. I assumed he was quick enough to around the big guys. Schweigert never flashes anything, he doesn't seem to be a ball hawk in the NFL
kpholmes
Fabian is who's killing the secondary. Routt should have his spot, and he should play the nickel. He got out smarted on some easy routes tonight. Sure he can out run the WRs deep, but man did he blow in the short passing game. Huff is young, he's still getting the hang of things. But Cooper should have a chance to compete with Schwiegert for the other safety spot...

And Huff is 1 behind them. I'm sure there will be some plays this season in that secondary, that will make us just shake our heads. But the consensus seems to be that Routt should be with the first team...!
Beaumont
What's wrong with Nnamdi Asomugha?

Return Of S&B
I believe keggerz is referring to the often overlooked IDP forum on this site...
Raider.Nation
This isn't an IDP thing, it's not about FF. Just discussing the football team's prospects on defense. There's not anything wrong with Namdi, I just think that Routt has played top notch so far this preseason and should be playing first team. And Fabian is the future at corner in Al Davis' mind so he's the obvious choice to start on the other side.
