Ziachild007
Well, I have decided to take the next step and try my hand at coaching nest season (U7). This season we had a coach that had good intentions, but he just didnt seem to teach the girls anything they could take with them going forward. It wasn't until midseason they actually started using positions and it seemed to run the girls ragged. Of course they lost those games and a lot of the girls seemed to lose interest the remainder of the season. So while I have never coached myself, I might as well either put up or shut op and try to do better. Wish me luck, I am gonna need it. ETA: I have checked out some of the links you guys provided and they are really great, especially for beginners. jackshi17
I think the most important thing to teach beginners is to stay away from the ball when someone on your team has it. Too many youth games end up being "magnet ball" where everyone gathers around the person with the ball. Just keep it fun and she should do good. Take movies of her practicing and playing and let her watch ...sometimes kids figure out how to do something watching themselves.

whomper
She ended up having a fun season..Every tuesday they had a clinic which was pretty cool. It was run by people that work for the Jersey metro stars..She had fun and she never stopped hustling..I enjoyed her games a lot..She has 2 more and the season is over..Today she got to play goalie for a while..It was perfect because when she was in net it was on our end so I got to stand right behind the goal and break the no parent coaching from the sidelines rule
