keggerz
Video Interview and Story story by Glazer In an exclusive interview with FOX Sports, Urlacher finally revealed he's been fighting through a back injury that's caused pain and problems. "It's a problem that started all the way back in camp," Urlacher said. "We've done x-rays, bone scans, MRI's, cat scans and this week I flew to Pittsburgh and met with a specialist. He confirmed what the team told me, that they think it's an arthritis type of thing. The thing that's so frustrating is there is no clear-cut solution to give me relief. I just have to deal with the pain." Dealing with pain has been his only option, albeit a frustrating one. While other teams, fans and media have watched Urlacher play with an obvious obstacle, none has realized the extent of the injury he's been dealing with. "The pain is actually worse than when I tore my hamstring a couple of years ago," he revealed. "That injury was worse because I missed games, but this causes more pain. It prevents me from bending and if I can't bend, I'm not able to be as athletic. I also can't backpedal like I need to. Right now we're trying to find pain solutions, I've got it shot a bunch to try to find some relief and actually it felt better last week. "I haven't wanted to talk about it because I don't want it to be an excuse," Urlacher said. "Look, I'm out there, and if I'm out there playing I didn't want it out because I didn't want it used as an excuse by me or anybody else. I'm playing hurt, I'm not playing as well as I want to and they want me to explain everything. "But I decided to open up about this because the media didn't like my answers and started saying I was doing a disservice to the fans. But the fans aren't the ones getting ticked about my answers. The fans aren't the ones who I'm trying to avoid. I just don't want to talk about an injury where there are no answers. But when the media throws the fan angle in, I'm talking. That's what I'm doing now. Don't use the fan excuse with me." As for the injury, the team still believes that having Urlacher out there, pain and all, is still better than not having him out there at all. Urlacher says he'll continue to play through the injury for the rest of the year and simply hope for the best. "As long as I can deal with the pain I'll be out there," he said. "It won't end my career, I don't need surgery and the team is trying to explore every possible thing for me to do to find me some relief. But it's just part of the territory of playing in the NFL. Even in practice Lovie (Smith) had convinced me to take off Fridays but I got embarrassed so I started working again. It's just how I am. If I'm not practicing, it's just how I've always been, it's embarrassing to me. If everyone else is out there and I can walk, I should be out there too. Swiss Cheezhead
I saw that reported a couple of days ago, but without any detail -- and the report made it sound like it was a well known condition. My first thought was, "huh?" My second thought was, "Glad I traded him to Zia!"
Sgt. Ryan
sounds like losers limp to me. If Chicago was 6-1, you wouldnt hear a peep from Urlacher.

URLACHERisGOD
Just the person I wanted to finally post in this thread. What is wrong with your idol Jessie. Wiill you now begin to worship Brian Griese. I knew you were fishing. I tried holding off as long as I could. But, the p*ssy comment was even retarded for someone like you. Brian Griese shouldn't even be playing right now. Grossman shouldn't even still be employed by the Bears. Chicago has passed up on way to many QBs over the past few years for me to even get excited at this point. Benson... don't even get me started. I remember like it was yesterday when the NFL Draft Ticker came across my cell phone. I was so stoked that Derrick Johnson was setting there. I thought to myself, "Wouldn't that be awsome? Urlacher, Briggs, and Johnson". Then they draft this schmuck. Right school. Wrong player. Then, to let TJones go and keep Benson. Arggh! Sure, I could be like every other p*ssy on this board and blame it on injuries. However, bottom line is: this team is not "gelling" on either side of the ball right now. It is beyond frustrating as a Bears fan. On the bright side, Tommie is playing well. We just need the other 21 guys to keep up. Here fishy fishy fishy. Seriously, I dont think this is any different than what alot of NFL players go through. Your body can only take so much of a pounding for so long. Difference is we dont hear about all the aches and pains for most players, just the ones that want to whine about it. Urlacher has always seemed like a guy who makes excuses, and this makes perfect sense why this is being published about now. Like I said, if Chicago was 6-1, you wouldnt hear a peep.
