:D

It never fails to amuse me when people here act as though the NFL management & their cadre of lawyers are a bunch of idiots and they are much smarter.

Given the bent of Goodell & his hard line on discipline, you can bet that if he & his lawyers thought they had a winnable case they would have suspended Henry. The reason Henry won his appeal is either because there had to be enough evidence supporting his case that it tilted the scales overwhelmingly to his side; or that the NFL violated the CBA in his testing that resulted in a positive test and couldn't have sustained a challenge in court.

This is hardly opening "a can of worms" or starting down the slippery slope. It's either that Henry did not in fact smoke dope or that the NFL will get an opportunity to tighten its testing procedures. You'll see plenty of appeals of future suspensions - that part of the testing/suspension process. This may be one of the only, if not the only, appeals won by a player.

Travis Henry's suspension was overturned due to procedural failings by the NFL, not his independent hair samples or lie detector test.

Henry won't be suspended, but league spokesman Greg Aiello said in a press release that he must stay in the league's substance-abuse program despite having been eligible to cycle out of it due to the time since his last infraction. That means he is still in danger of getting suspended for a full year if he's busted again.
