Big John
Flopping (or diving) to fake a foul can be considered unsportsmanlike and fines had been dealt for other unsportsmanlike acts. Perhaps the NBA is trying to not follow soccer, where diving has become a hugh problem.
Caveman_Nick
I've now officially seen it all. NBA to fine for flopping In the Celtics-Pistons series I have seen many calls for non-fouls where the player being "fouled" just flopped the right way after incidental contact to make something look like a push-off or other violation. I have also seen many players get hammered and the foul not get called because the refs just can't call them all. I like it. Review the game tape and levy fines for clear flopping. That will allow the officials to focus on clear violations that are often missed like shirt grabs and other fouls. Whatever Rasheed has to say, he's a red-handed flopper in his own right. All the players do it. It takes away from the game IMO.

It can be done post-game by reviewing the game tapes, same as it can be done for basketball. Basketball should give this ruling real teeth (and at the same time ensure coaches enforce it) by applying one-game suspensions for the first offense, two games for the second and so on. BTW, I think Hamilton is the worst of the current series.
