so peyton wins MVP and he's an offensive player, yet he doesn't win offensive player of the year. interesting. did peyton happen to jump over and play some cornerback as well this year?

I have a dream. A dream that someday people will actually realize the difference between "most valuable" and "most impressive".

The Saints weren't a playoff team with Brees, so it's hard to say how much worse they'd be without. My guess, substantially, but you simply can't make a guy MVP if he didn't lead his team to the playoffs.

However, he did put up outrageous numbers, so is a fine choice for OPY

was their record any better?

well since you asked.....

With Brooks (not counting the 2000 season where he inherited the job in week 11 after Jeff Blake got hurt)

2001 - 7-9 (3rd)

2002 - 9-7 (3rd)

2003 - 8-8 (2nd)

2004 - 8-8 (2nd)

2005 - 3-13 (4th)

With Brees

2006 - 10-6 (1st)

2007 - 7-9 (2nd)

2008 - 8-8 (4th)

Looking forward to Cowboys @ Saints next year....Hopefully they'll schedule the game in December :D

I tend to look at it like this....

It took the Saints franchise 21 seasons to finally have a winning season (1987 12-3)

Drew Brees did it in his first year with the team.

That's gotta be worth something.
