dmarc117
"The middle class is in trouble because of 'affluenza,' '' said Thomas Naylor, a professor emeritus of economics at Duke and co-author of a book of the same name. Affluenza is "a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more,'' the book says. http://www.suntimes.com/business/currency/...uenza31.article

Ursa Majoris
http://www.suntimes.com/business/currency/...uenza31.article Not affluenza so much as anti-affluenza. The coveting and acquisition of that which you cannot afford. Never have fallen victim because I don't give two chits what anyone else thinks of my house / car / TV / stuff. cre8tiff
So basically, George Carlin was right. We all are slaves to our "stuff". Lucky for us, our best friends are very wealthy, so there would be no possible way to "keep up with the Joneses" anyhow. Makes it easy to not give a smack about "stuff".
