Chief Dick
Need to create a simple deduction formula. Row 1, column one. I will enter a number. Row 2, column one. I will enter a different number, which needs to subtract from the number in row one and display the deducted number. I want to do this for 20 rows. In other words, a running deduction as it goes down the rows. Hope this is clear. Thanks.
gbpfan1231
Why don't you just add a column to the right that does the deduction for you. Not sure I understand the question?

A1 = number A A2 = number B A3 - enter the formula =A1-A2 Drag A3 so that it copies itself into all cells through A21. This will subtract the last cell from the one immediately above it. You can't do it exactly how you've described it but this basically does what you asked.

whomper
I would suggest A1 = number A A2 = number B A3 - enter the formula =A1-A2 Drag A3 so that it copies itself into all cells through A21. This will subtract the last cell from the one immediately above it. ETA : Ursa beat me to it Edited September 3, 2009 by whomper
