bpwallace49
Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying there should be NO government, but seeing as how it's track record is much worse than a truly free market, Tough to swallow when your free market required a bailout to save its azz . . and widely acknowledged that the bailout avoided a much deeper depression. moneymakers
I call BS on taking over 1/7th of the economy claim. Make it 1/5th when Obama makes your Pot completely legal and Government tries to get the FDA to regulate it. Government in your plastic baggy. I can hardly wait to hear you scream. Perchoutofwater
Tough to swallow when your free market required a bailout to save its azz . . and widely acknowledged that the bailout avoided a much deeper depression. Freddie, Fannie, CRA, First-time home buyer credits, ect... not really a free market is it? The government helped to cause the housing bubble which set the dominoes into motion. Private institutions having to compete with quasi-government institutions that have more lax regulations is what start the swap business wasn't it? You can try to blame it on the free market, but everywhere you look you find the government's fingerprints. Don't get me wrong these businesses made poor decisions as well, but to say that the bailouts were caused by the free market or that the free market needed the bailout is ridiculous. Hell by the time it is said and done Freddie and Fannie will be the biggest recipient of bailout money, surely you wouldn't say they are part of the free market. While the bailouts may have avoided a much deeper recession (which is debatable) they very well may have extended it, as had the few banks gone under we would all know what our losses on and could move on, as it is we don't know when the tax bill is coming, but we know it is coming. It is easy at a glance to say the free market failed, but you have to realize the market is far from free, and the governments hands were all over this. Ursa Majoris
And this doesn't concern you? Not even a little bit? Fedgov, which does NOTHING right, is making its first move in taking over 1/7th of the economy and controlling your access to medical care, and it's making this move in secret. And you're OK with that? NOBODY should be OK with that. If that fraction is right, doesn't it concern YOU that 16% of our entire economy is based on freakin' healthcare? Because the free market has been doing such a bang-up job lately Ten years worth of savings and profits wiped out. Ha - top THAT, Fedgov. TTGIF
Fox has been caught twice in the last few months running misleading videos with their news stories. Can youvname another network that's done the same? Can you name or demonstrate that another network uses itself as anonymous sources for their own newscasts? If you can' I'd like for you to show it to me. If not, you are ignoring reality. And if you think NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC report accurately and without a left-leaning bias you are ignoring reality.
Pope Flick
And if you think NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and MSNBC report accurately and without a left-leaning bias you are ignoring reality. They don't as much as they go with the winds of the times: none of those "liberal" news organizations at the time challenged Bush on the Iraq invasion. But then again, you're not answering my question: what other network besides FOX has used itself as anonymous sources for their own newscasts? Answer: none of them, which puts FOX in a shameless class all by themselves. THAT is reality. Not to mention faking video to support their own lies. Because that is how the right and Fox justify themselves. "we are the only fair and balanced entertainment/news network, everone ELSE has liberal bias! But because we only hire Republicans like Karl Rove, Oliver North, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Mike Huckabee WE are very impartial!!!!" The Mucca
what was the original topic of this thread again? and is it important or is it not? Something that was promised to the American People by, The President, that is not going to happen. Yes it is important, but our President, doesn't think we need to know about it until he forces it on us.
Perchoutofwater
In a significant victory for unions, the 40 percent excise tax would not apply to policies covering workers in collective bargaining agreements, state and local workers and members of voluntary employee benefit associations through Dec. 31, 2017. Disgusting This is a truly disgusting pay back for campaign contributions and nothing else. This is what pisses me off so much about our current tax system, and our liberal government. We play favorite through the tax code. There is no longer equal taxation and representation.
