bushwacked
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/th...ses-from-iraq/1 By January 2010, there were 112,000 U.S. troops in Iraq. By the end of May 2010, that number had been reduced to 88,000. General (Ray) Odierno made the decision in May 2010 that positive developments in the security sector permitted the drawdown to go forward as planned. The final tranche of the drawdown to reach the President's commitment to end combat operations began in earnest in June 2010. By the end of August 2010, the number of U.S. troops in Iraq will be further reduced to 50,000. On August 31, Operation Iraqi Freedom will end. The transitional mission will be called Operation New Dawn. Consistent with our agreements with the Iraqi government, all U.S. troops are scheduled to leave Iraq by the end of 2011. Anyone got any numbers on how much money this saves American taxpayers?
bpwallace49
Mission accomplished? Although the savings sure will be nice for America. But I am sure this will either be spun in a negative light . .

WaterMan
Anyone got any numbers on how much money this saves American taxpayers? Unfortunately no money will be saved. We're just going to be shipping all of them over to Afghanistan. And I know a few marines who are being sent to South Korea. If those two countries go to war, expect us to be in the middle of it. TimC
Anyone got any numbers on how much money this saves American taxpayers? About tree-fitty. When Iran comes in to fill the vaccuum left behind, it'll end up costing us alot more than the past decade. Draw the line from Tehran to Kabul and you've got the line where we should be carpet-bombing for the next few months, if you really want no more issues. gbpfan1231
Because Obama is the devil and there cant be anything positive that happens under his presidency? Devil??? Come on - that is a bit extreme and don't recall anyone here using the word devil to describe him. He is a lying arrogant pr1ck that's all. Azazello1313
I am glad to see Bush's plan worked, so I guess we agree. wasn't bush's plan, and it wasn't obama's. the credit here goes to general petraeus and the fine enlisted men and women supporting him, who finally came up with and executed the counterinsurgency plan we needed to win. TimC
They aren't. They are being shifted to Afghanistan. Yeah, because if our military hangs around there long enough, the Muslims will eventually realize the errors of their ways after 10,000 years and start actually taking care of themselves. Or probably not.
