I need to find the difference in cubic yards with these two tanks.

Tank #1: 5 feet in diameter X 22 feet long.

Tank #2: 8 feet in diameter X 35 feet long.

If I figured correctly (using my cheat sheet)

Tank #1 is 3,221 gallons or 432.0 cubic feet.

Tank #2 is 13,160 gallons or 1759.3 cubic feet.

So whats my next step? Subtract the results of the cubic feet and then divide or multiply by 3? :wacko::tup:

tank 1 = 22 x pi(5/2)^2 = 431.97 cu ft / 27= 16.00 cu yd

tank 2 = 35 x pi(8/2)^2 = 1759.29 cu ft / 27 = 65.16 cu yd

difference = 65.16-16.00 = 49.16 cu yd

(there are 27 cu ft per cu yd, so that is the dividing factor)

1759.3 cubic feet = 65.16 cubic yards.

432 cubic feet = 16 cubic yards.

65.16 less 16 = 49.16 cubic yards, which is your answer.

49.16. Showing the work and how you get to the number is for homos

Only rounding to two decimal places is for simpletons.
