ivbaseball06
Someone in my league brought this up today and I was curious how this situation is scored. (8:32 - 3rd) A.Dalton pass short middle to G.Bernard to SL 27 for 45 yards (M.Roberson). FUMBLES (M.Roberson), recovered by CIN-T.Eifert at SL 20. T.Eifert to SL 20 for no gain (M.Barron) I'm assuming that Dalton gets credit for 45 passing yards and Bernard gets credit for 45 receiving yards and the reception (if PPR). Does Eifert then get credit for the other 7 yards to the 20 yard line? If so, are they receiving or rushing yards? Or does he get credit for nothing? Or does Bernard get screwed and Eifert gets points for all 52 yards? ESPN scored it as Dalton (45 passing), Bernard (45 receiving, 1 reception) and Eifert (0, unless you give points for offensive fumble recovery). Did ESPN score this as it will be officially scored or do we foresee a stat correction here?
Boy Named Suh
That is exactly what I was going to say. Dalton, 45 passing, Gio, 45 receiving, and a fumble. Eifert, 0. He could have gotten rushing yards if he had picked up the ball and run with it, but falling on it will not get the yardage betwen the fumble and where he fell on it. Big John
the rest are fumble return yards.
Boy Named Suh
the rest are fumble return yards. If he picks it up and runs with it? That would not be considered rushing yards?
Big Country
If he picks it up and runs with it? That would not be considered rushing yards? I believe Big John is right, that picking up a fumble and running with it are considered fumble return yards. Now, if the player lateralled the ball, then the yards after the lateral are considered rushing yards.
Dolphin_Akie
Have to say I was very happy when Eli's shocking attempt at a lateral bounced out of bounds at the end of the NYG@WAS game. Couldn't afford another two points off a fumble.
