billay
What? Because a teams plays in a power conference they shouldn't be allowed in? The charm of having mid majors in the tourney is great and sure, its fun when one of them makes a run, but this is the National Baskeball Tournament. It designed to crown a champion for college basketball each year. THE BEST TEAMS GET INVITED, not the ones that it would make a great story if they win. Let's not screw up the best event in college atheletics just to put smiles on a few kids faces.
chiefjay
.500 in the conference is what he meant. Each year average Power Conference Teams get bounced early, I find credence in what he says. The play of teams like Bucknell, Wisc-Milw, and Vermont are prime examples of the middies providing this tourney with what makes it so great, heart and a sack down the stretch. It's nice to see the Prima Donna's (sp?) get knocked down once in a while.

The media likes to grab coaches and players then because they like the emotion they spout, but that does sound weird. He probably means new teams should be in, but found a weird way to say it. UW Milwaukee, NC State and West Virginia are still in.

billay
Is N.C. State any less deserving to be playing in the tourney?

I Like Soup
Suffice it to say, any team in a power conference that goes .500 would probably dominate a lesser conference.
