Randall
He signed Manuel but other than that is not pressing for anyone. He says he wants FA's but it sure doesn't look like it. He has a lot of money but seems afraid of faliure so he isn't pulling the trigger. Wolf made great moves but made a lot of bad ones too. He wasn't afraid to fail. I think Thompson is. Start getting us some players.
budlitebrad
The only other guys I've heard are Pickett and Taylor. Nothing I've read so far has given me much confidence in their sales pitch either...
Guest ksu70
You nailed it right on the head. Who is left...at any position? Thompson is not a big free agent guy but what the hell? How much money do they have? 30 million? They overpaid Kampmann just because they had to pay somebody and it might as well be your own guy, but he is no stud. What about McGinest? At least talk to the guy, humor us.
Todd1
Are they even trying to get Grady Jackson back? I wouldn't give him a $50 mil contract, but if we could give him $3-5 for this year and similar next, I think that would be smart. Grady was healthy and has been a key to the defense. Pickett would probably be a much better replacement though. I'd like to see a decent OG come in here, a K, a starting caliber LB and another CB. Maybe upgrade the 3rd WR spot in case Walker or Murphy don't return. The rest can be handled in the draft.
budlitebrad
Here's some of the guys they're looking at right now. Vinatieri sounds super, but it all just seems like "wait and see what they say" kinda BS. No ones agressively making moves. No mention of CBs, either. I doubt TT would want to put up big change for a guy like Law or Woodson. LINK

"The rest can be handled in the draft"? Like what? It sounds like you're demanding Teddy T to handle everything via FA. You want it all, but it's not all there. The big-name FAs are all being overpaid. That's the nature of the game. Tell me the last "marquee free agent" who lived up to his contract. Anyone? Thompson prefers to build through the draft because it's the more proven method. That said, I'd like to see Pickett join the club. McGinest? Give me a break. Go after Pickett. Don't let him leave and hope for the best.
PaulOttCarruth
Tell me the last "marquee free agent" who lived up to his contract. Anyone? 1370159[/snapback] The '96 championship team was built largely on free agents. At the top of the list: Reggie White Others: Keith Jackson Santana Dotson Andre Rison Sean Jones Don Beebe Desmond Howard There are lots of other teams who've landed marquee free agents that have paid off. Lamont Jordan, Correy Dillon, T.O., Rich Gannon, Joe Horn, Plaxico Burress, Thomas Jones, Javon Kearse, etc., etc., etc.

Todd1
I never said "big name" free agents, I said Pickett (who is underrated), a guard, a LB (not many 'big' names out there), a K (don't have to spend $5 mil on a K) and a CB. I didn't say a starting CB, just someone to compete or be a nickel guy. Guards also aren't 'big money' guys for the most part, but I'd like to see an upgrade over Scott Wells. Also, Flannigan might be leaving for Houston or elsewhere, so some interior depth is going to be needed.
Randall
Is Ted Thompson a covert agent working for the Vikings?
