SpinalTapp
Obviously, Clayton has been hurt most of the year....but is it time to give up on hope that he will have a great season? It appears Mason is entrenched as McNair's go to guy, even if Clayton is healthy. Your thoughts?
piratesownninjas
I've never been high on him at any point... There has always been a lot of hype behind him, but in my opinion, he just hasn't shown enough to merit it. I actually like the upside of Williams over Clayton... Call me crazy. MiLiLaNi (HI) SEahawk fAN
I drafted him in the 8th round and expected BiG things. He's currently in the 60's here at the Huddle in the Rest of the Season Rankings. I've got Andre Johnson, L-Coles, Santonio Holmes, Deion Branch, Dwayne Bowe, and Shaun McDonald on my active roster. We start 3. I've had him on IR but he caught a few balls and I need to make a decision on him in the next couple of days. At this point, I'm leaning toward cutting him. It's the dreaded High Ankle Sprain! lol!

Usually when a WR increases his numbers each year that is usually an idicator of great things to come. In the case of Clayton here are his 1st and 2nd season totals, respectively: 44-471-2TDs........67-939-5TDs If you go look at all the stud WRs you will see a very similar pattern - historically, anytime a WR puts up nearly 500 yards as a rookie then nearly 1000 as a soph that is a very good indicator that WR will be a stud - not absolutely - but pretty darn close. So for you to say he had much unwarranted hype - that is simply inaccurate. Check the stats brother. When prognosticating future performance there aren't many stats like this that have such a near perfect positive correlation as this one. I personally am still holding out hope - keep in mind, he has been injured since TC.

He clearly needs t get healthy but I think he will reward owners who can stash him on their rosters for a rainy day like me. Just pray to the fantasy gods and be patient. Hugh 0ne
No surge. 4th option, bad passing offense, I'd cut him faster than Grant took Richmond.
isleseeya
I would keep him until he plays a couple of games , and starts ...until he is healthy and starting I don't anyone can know for sure if he can produce good #'s consistently
bok_choy
i swear, you guys who get hung up on the names and not the hard facts kill me. we are 1/4 way through the season and the guy still stinks. i know , i know ...hes been injured.....just enough to keep him around. while you wait...and wait...for him to show some meager sign of life you are missing out on other potential players. he is just like that golf shot. you know the one... you suck at golf...you have a miserable day on the links.... but on the last hole , by the grace of god, you sink that putt and make par. its JUST enough to get you to come back.... that, my friends, is clayton. you play long enough and youll get that one shot-- and it'll be just enough to waste another good day trying to get it again. but ya know what...you still suck... and so does clayton. but hey, thats just my opinion
SpinalTapp
while you wait...and wait...for him to show some meager sign of life you are missing out on other potential players This is my big concern. Clayton, Vernon Davis, and Chris Brown are all taking roster spots on my roster. Guys like Selvin Young, Patrick Crayton, Sydney Rice, Derek Anderson, Mush Muhammed, Adrian Peterson (chi), and even a guy like Pierre Thomas are on the waiver wire. Not sure how much longer I can wait for the old Clayton to arrive. Edited October 3, 2007 by SpinalTapp
Hugh 0ne
I see a lot of Sydney Rice talk out there, so let me just clear the air on this: Sydney Rice will be the best WR on the Vikes by the end of the year. Unfortunately, that means his number will be something like 550 yards and 4 TD's. This passing offense is abysmal, and Rice will not be a viable fantasy option ever. In a keeper league, he's very intriguing, but don't get tight pants thinking this guy is going to a consistent performer this year. rattsass
I had a bad feeling about Clayton before the season, and I don't feel any better about him now. Cut and move on. With bye weeks staring you in the face, and all the injuries, you need guys that will put up at least SOME numbers. Clayton is a definite "sell" to me. Scorcher
There is no hope as long as McNair is the QB.

Williams IMO has taken over the starting role and doesn't look like he'll give it up this year.
SpinalTapp
Does a guy like Pierre Thomas have more upside than Mark Clayton at this point?
Zooty
Does a guy like Pierre Thomas have more upside than Mark Clayton at this point? Maybe but he definitely has more upside than Chris Brown.
